My tractor experience for the first 40 years of my life was limited to my father's Farmall Super C, so I'm not much of a tractor expert. I'm considering upsizing from my current 25 hp compact to something in the 40's and I've noticed that a lot of them seem to be mounted with industrial tires. I didn't even know any type of tractor tires other than ag tires even existed until last year.

Since farm work is the only thing I'll ever do with my tractor, should I insist on Ag tires or would the industrial ones be OK? Can industrial tires be replaced with Ag tires or does that require swapping wheels?

Thanks for any info.

For "farm work", you can't beat Ag tires, I would insist on them.

We have all types.

Kubota's L come standard with R1 AG tires... R4's are a up grade... I have R1's and like them.. They will cut up a lawn if you turn sharp! oops sorry about that!

Agreed - Ag is the way to go unless you are very heavy loader usage or a tough tractor in a subdivision... Then you can't beat the R4.

Industrial tires will last longer in applications where they spin for three miles to go one mile.

In that case, the ags probabally would NOT be spinning.

And IF the AG's are spinning for 3 miles to go 1 mile, the R4's probabally would be spinning forever and NOT moving.

I agree with the others, get the ags for your application.
