personally, I'm a big fan of the 20 series. I would choose the 2820. I love the shifter on the steering Colom . Also you could check to see if any of these available tractors have the gear splitter. it basically allows you to split every range. or doubles the amount or choices. also check if any of them have the UFO which gives you a hydraulic side lift for the 3pt.

on a side note I just like the way the 20 series looks.

A former co-worker got a Fredricks YM1720D and literally LOVES the machine. He would agree too that the shifter on the column and not on the floor is a wise choice. His is a big guy (not fat), so getting in and out of the small machine works for him.

For the OP's original posting, a YM1720D with loader would be under-powered for his needs. Yes, one of the other YM--20D machines could be useful.

Agree........except, the part about not buying an FEL.

Only if he buys the real backhoe (minis included), should he not get the FEL!

Back to the dangers of a 3-point backhoe - here's the recent thread where an owner tore the back out of the transmission of a Kubota that had only 84 hours since new. Huge cost to fix that!

I remember peeking at that thread a few months ago. NASTY damage. Did he finially fix it, I guess I need to look again, last I looked he I think figuring out what to do.

I looked at his posting history. Nothing since the initial description and some replies to inquiries at that time, no repair mentioned.

There are similar disasters described by others in that thread.
