Finally had to take one of those dreaded "pre planned" trips to the Vet.

Hard part was that she still had enough energy and life to do things, but the quality of life was going down hill fast, and we didn't want to have to put her through another operation that wouldn't promise anything but a long hard road in recovery.

The day was beautiful and we went out and actually enjoyed it. She had a good steak dinner to boot:D

Thinking about, I can only hope I go out the same way.

Sad. Our golden retriever (Cody) is just over 14 years old and his hips are starting to get bad. Doesn't seem to have any pain, but they just won't hold him up sometimes. We'll have to go through the same thing with him, hopefully later than sooner. I hope his last day is as good.
You have my condolences.

Mark

Sincerest condolences...I have 4 Golden Retrievers and love them like children...1,3,8 & 10 years old...I dread the day, but know that it is the loving thing to do. The 8 year old is named Mustang Sally...(that's where the Mustangsallysdad comes from) funny, I named her because of my passion for restoring old Mustangs, but she is more the passion now...would trade everyone of them (the Mustangs) for my dogs. Interesting side note: I'm diabetic and sometimes if I forget to have a light snack before bed, my blood sugar will drop...she always wakes me up. It took a couple of years to figure out what was going on because she always sleeps through the night and it was out of character for her to wake me up. Finally pieced it together. Odd how they have that extra sense that we don't always understand. I hope you have good memories of her. I feel for you.
