This is my first post here, so bear with me. After reviewing lots of information on this great forum, and studying brochures and information on the very useful JD web site, I placed an order for a new 990 4wd last week. I thought it would be helpful to future purchasers to point out a few errors I discovered in the JD brochure for the 90 series tractors.
First, the brochure states that the 990 is a 3 cylinder diesel, when it's really a four cylinder.
Second, the brochure says that the overall length of the 990 is 84.2 inches, which is impossible given the 69 inch wheelbase. The actual overall length is reported to be 123 inches in the owner's manual.
Finally, the overall width of the tractor specified in the brochure is 79.6 inches, which seems too wide to me, since that's several inches wider than either the 3320 or the 5103 that I also considered. I can't find an overall width listed anywhere, but the owner's manual gives the tread width (center to center) as 53.6 inches front and 46.2 inches rear, so the overall width is probably more like 70 inches or a little less.
I'm really looking forward to mowing some brush in a few weeks!
