I'm getting 18" and 36".

My truck is a 2005, 6 speed manual with a gear vendors overdrive. Tows like a dream, but I've never pulled anything this heavy before. Now I just need a trailer that can handle it. No rush though, because I ended up buying it from my local dealer, so he'll deliver it to my farm.

Anybody out there in the VA area selling an 8 ton trailer?:D

Jon

Congrats Jon.

Now back to my post with some elaboration. I have posted this info before and it is true and happened in PA where the locals can and are being DOT trained.

A friend that I used to get hay from was pulled over in his supposedly farmer friendly home county while delivering hay to a customer. He had his single axle grain truck with a 10k tag along. He had farm tags on the truck and a 10k tag on the trailer. He does have a CDL. I do not remember the exact figures but they did indeed ask him to drop the trailer which was over 10k gross.

He had to leave the trailer but the truck alone was legal so he ran and registered it higher to cover the trailer plus pay some fines.

Being this was a local operation, I have asked PA state police about this and it was perfectly legit to make him do this.

Other than something totally unsafe, I really do not care what anyone chooses to do, I just wanted to put it in black and white.

I used to work for the Justice Dept in '80s...I was "in charge" taking care of and disposing of all the seized/forfeited vehicles from Brownsville TX, to San Diego CA. I spend a bunch of time in San Antonio, Del Rio, Laredo, El Paso...etc...(ie. Border Patrol Sectors). I've flown with the Border Patrol down the Rio Grande in the evenings to spot "crossers". I also was part of a huge quarter horse/Appaloosa (sp) sale/auction up in Denton (East Texas). Oh, yeah, spent a week or so down in Houston and Galveston Island....I won't even go into the other places west of ya'll (ie. AZ), where I spent just as much time....I do like TX, but don't like that it takes about 3 days to drive across it....BobG in VA

I apologize if offended anyone because I did not mean to imply that Texas was better than Kentucky. Though I have only been here just over two months, I am liking it very much.

Jon: You got some great stuff! You are really going to like it. I have pulled my Mahindra 6000 with wheel weights, 511, loader, etc with my 2500 chevy truck on a 12,500lb tandum axle trailer with no problem. Of course with trailer brakes and leveling bars.
Looking forward to some pictures.

Oh, and by the way, I pull a 10' rotoray cutter with my 6000 and it does a good job, although a little under hp for the hills and thick grass. I all so, like you, use a smaller cutter for the trails.
What size and type bailer and cutter are you going to be using with the 7520?

Slippy, are you going to look at the new 8560 if they ever get out? I looked at a new 7520 back in Feb at the ag show. Some changes that I liked, one that I didn't like. I'm sure that the new 8560 model is going to be a very nice rig.

Yes, I am sure I will look at it. Although since I bought the International 1086 with 140 pto hp, not sure I need it at this point. 6000 is still running strong and plan to use it to pull the bailer this summer. But, I am very curious to take a look see. You thinking yes?

Without a doubt I will look, and look hard at the cab model. But we bought a Case 1200 Traction King 4x4 last year for disking. Have not used it yet, needs tires, but with 120hp, it should pull our 12 offset disk around like it's not even there. Probably need to find a 16' now.:D Just what we need, another disk. We have a 4', 6', 8', and 12' disks now, all Kilfer (John Deere) offset pull disks if I remember correctly. Might think about selling the 7520 if the price is not to high on the 8560s. But I doubt it.;)

No offense taken. It was more a poke at Brandi! See I'm from KY. Been here all my life, and she's uh well from you know, that other state.
I like the mountains too much to ever go far from them.

I'm beginning to wonder if they didn't mean 2018 instead of 2008 for a release date on that 8560. Too bad for them a week or so ago I would have traded no question about it, but the more I use the 7010 the more I like it. I'm really liking the cab and even found a use for that low low range. I think I'm going to like having a great big compact tractor!

Well just schedule your next vacation to visit the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. I'll give you a guided tour of the park in exchange for some help in the chickenhouses!
