Well, we began to build my new horse barn/tractor shed on Saturday and I noticed something regarding the augur.

It seems that it does not go down as far as the old 2800 did. The old tractor would literally "bury" the augur, while the most depth that I can get out of the 4740 is 22". Any suggestions or solutions?

I had an odd problem with my auger when I traded my L3130 in on a L5030. The 5030 is cat-2 and the lift arms are longer. That changed the geometry of the PHD so that I couldn't drive from site to site with the auger attached because it dragged on the ground - the 50's 3PH didn't lift the auger high enough off the ground. I fiddled with which top-link hole to use, etc. I either dragged the auger when I drove or bent the PTO guard when I dug.

Then I noticed yet another adjustment - the point where the lift arms joined with the rods attached to the hydraulic cylinders - there were two holes to choose from. When I moved the lift arms to the upper holes, I had both problems solved - the auger didn't drag when I drove and I could go deep.

The point of all this is to check out other adjustments on your 3PH - you may find something to tweak the depth!
