Price Check 4720 price check

Hey guys, got the bug for another tractor, ran across a 4720 2008, hydro, 400x loader, r4's, rear scv and air ride seat. dealer will sell for 31500, new unit. does that sound like a good deal, i guess the 08's had 58hp. i was wanting a 4520, but this is close in money and has the options i want. my dad is going to buy the 3520 from me so i can still use the backhoe etc. thanks for any input.

Since the tractor is new you should be able to buy it for at least 15-18% off msrp --- possibly more off since it is a 2008.

Surprisingly, you may find that the dealer is not able to "deal" on the 2008. That's what I found out. When I was shopping for my tractor, my dealer had two 2008 4720's on the lot, neither of which he could sell to me cheaper than a comparably-equipped 2009 4520 that had to be ordered. I was shocked. I figured I could get a better deal on a tractor that was already in stock vs. one that had to be ordered. When I pointed this out to the salesman (he didn't even realize it when he quoted the prices) he said, "Yeah, why would you want to pay more for a 2008 model. They're basically the same tractor."

In that case, I'd order a bran spanking new 2009 tractor with all the features I wanted --- assuming dealer will discount 15-18%.

But the '08 was a 4720 while the '09 was a 4520, that may explain the situation. Another factor is the fact that new previous-year model tractors tend not to depreciate much sitting on the lot unless the current year model has been significantly upgraded. There is much less pressure on a tractor dealer to move previous-year models out as there is on a car dealer for example.

That is a good price for a cab tractor.

Oops, didn't see the loader last night. For an OS tractor with fel this doesn't reflect much of a deal to me. If you compare to a 2009 4520 try to get the updated round sway bars on the 3 pt hitch too.

I just ordered a cabbed 4520. What is the updated round sway bars?

By the way, a 2009 4720 is about 2K higher in price than a 4520. I didn't think 2K was justified for 6 hp, different decals and to give JD a higher profit margin for the same tractor. As stated earlier, a 2009 4520 has the same hp (60 hp) as a 2008 4720.

My new cabbed 4520 came in with the round rod sway bars instead of the prior flat bars. I am sure your new tractor will have them also. All new ones are being shipped with them.

I mentioned the 4520 since they are similar tractors to the 2008 4720.

hey guys, thanks for the posts. my friend who i bought my 3520 from is now going to sell me his 4520, 400x, 448bh, two mowers a tiller and square baler for less than 30k, so im going to take him up on it, he's selling his farm so its gonna benefit him as well. guess im gonna need to sell the 3520 now, really don't need 2 tractors........thanks again for the input. jp
