This is my first tractor so I'm not sure on how this should be operating. The cable between my dash lever and valve lever for the raise/lower 3 point did not come with tractor. To raise and lower it I just use the valve lever. The problem I'm having is it always goes up and down super fast and is hard to stop it in a halfway position, which I should be able to do right?

So far all I've used it for is my post pounder and I have to raise it up to put it on its stand. The rest of the time it operates in the fully down position so it's not an issue. Sometimes I can get it to stay halfway up but usually creeps so I just shut tractor off and put valve in full up position.

Right now I'm gearing up to cut my own hay and I've been avoiding 3 point rake for this reason.

My main question is: If I got a new cable would I have finer adjustment of the valve to get it to stay where I want it or is it a bigger problem?

Thanks

Is the L/D lever under seat set in "D"? Probably not. If it is in "D" then L/D mechanism needs adjusting as outlined in a JD 3020 tech manual.

Thanks Jim! Looks like that was all it was. Didn't know that would effect that part of operation. Thanks again!
