Nothing unfortunate about it. You will be very happy with the 3016. I am. And I work it hard.
Unfortunately, I signed the contract on the 3016 before the last set of replies. I just couldn't swing the extra $4500 for the 3616 ($4k plus freight), or the $5500 for the 1533. Hopefully I won't be too disappointed.
I bought a 5' Mahindra (Kodiak) tiller, SS forks, 5' rotary cutter, and Rim guard ballast. It has a grill guard standard as well as R4 tires.
Based on all your responses, I will call the dealer in the morning and have him order me the rear remote kit. I may have him install it only so it is covered under mfg warranty. My wife found a hydraulic-lift sickle mower she wants.
The rear remote can be installed by removing the seat and the plastic cover panel on the inside of the fender. Not that big of a deal. If your dealer is willing to sell it to you for $850, get it, that is a deal. This valve also has the float function with it, it is a good clean setup. If you think that you will ever need more than one remote, then forget about it and just go aftermarket. Mahindra only offers a single rear remote option for their 16 series tractors. Morons :sigh:
People always seem to say that the lower HP models will do the same work as the higher HP models and for the most part they are right. What the main difference is, is the speed that the job can be done with the higher HP model. This applies to most all types of work, not just PTO work. Example, your pulling a loaded box blade up hill. 30 HP tractor is struggling but not breaking traction and getting the job done. The 36 HP tractor does the same, except does not struggle and can actually move along at a faster rate. So moving the same amount of material, just faster.
Just my :2cents:, I'm sure that you will be happy with either machine.
What on earth would you be doing with a compact tractor to need two sets of remotes? There is a simple system made by Fasse that will turn you single set into a dual
You're joking right? Number one, that Fasse multiplier WILL NOT work on the Mahindra 3215 factory rear remote, been there done that. The swivel pieces that are suppose to allow you to plug into a single set do not get you enough adjustment to plug in.
Second, top and tilt cylinders for the 3pt hitch, there's 2, an angle cylinder for a rear blade or landscape rake, there's 3. Ever seen a rear blade that has 3-4 rear hydraulics on them? There would be 6. I current have 4, for top & tilt, angle and offset for my landscape rake and hope to purchase a Land Pride RBT3584 some day. I will use the angle and offset hydraulics on that also.![]()
Think of the percentage of people that use that type of equipment on a compact tractor though... In the last three years I can count on one hand how many compacts we have sold that was ordered with even one set of remotes.. all angle blades, top links, and rakes have been self adjust. Sold one for a trencher, one with a hay rake.... now third functions.. yeah plenty of those but its kinda pointless to keep a special set of remotes around when 95% of the people don't even use one set. Not saying it isn't the best way to go using hyd. but its not smart as a manufacture/business imo
Didn't know that about the Fasse and the 15 series remotes.. good info to have thank you!
A HUGE part of the hydraulic thing is education. Most people simply do not know about it. My experience is that a lot of dealers don't know-understand, so don't want to sell the stuff, plus it is costly. I have had dealers flat out tell me "why would I want to sell a top & tilt system to a customer that I have to charge $2000-$3000 ,when I can sell them multiple implements for that much money? The customer is better off with all the implements."
REALLY, so now ALL the 3pt adjustments have to be made manually and that ends up not being made at all after awhile. Everyone ends up with "that's good enough syndrome" simply because they are tired of the tiresome process that it is to make a manual adjustment. When if they had hydraulic adjustments, it takes fractions of a second and all they have to do is touch a lever with their finger tips.
Do people by cars without air conditioning, after all, you don't really need it do you? Think of the thousands of dollars cheaper that the cars could be sold for. But no, pretty much everyone understands the benefits of having air conditioning. Well, people (dealers and the customers) just need to be educated about hydraulic actuated adjustments and the extreme benefits that they can offer.
I bought my 3215 from Dave's Tractor, I'm sure that you know him, West coast Mahindra distributor. Sells A LOT OF TRACTORS. My 3215 was the first 15 series tractor that he had ever sold with the factory rear remote on it.
More that a few people must want this stuff, I'm currently running at a 9 week back log.
I hope that some of this benefits someone.![]()

I can tell you after having top & tilt on my tractors 3 point for the past 14 years I will never own a tractor without it.
Well we found two![]()
Kodiak makes their bush hogs and box blades, rebranded for Mahindra. They lean towards Howse for their grooming mowers at least here in NC anyway.
I just got the Med. Duty 5 ft Kodiak thanks to some good info from some guys here on the forum. So far i'm happy with it. I got the box blade over 2 years ago and it's still going strong.
The pallet forks I got from Everything Attachments. Couldn't be happier with them. I use them more than the bucket most times.
