Tractor
kubota 4200
After my dealer told me my L5040 would arrive in "just a few days, end of the week" I'm now entering my fourth week of waiting with no firm date of delivery. How long did you have to wait for your 'bota to hatch?

I waited a month before mine arrived at the dealer. Took another month for the rest of the items that I ordered to come in. Other items included a 3rd function valve, ballast box and pallet forks.

My tractor came from the Ohio warehouse (4 hour drive and in stock) yet it took over 6 weeks to get and only after I wrote Kubota corporate and got the sales rep involved. The FEL, BH and buckets came from Texas I believe, and came in with in a week after the dealer placed the order.

Kubota kept telling my dealer that the tractor is on the truck and will be delivered ... It is not your dealer that is at fault based on my experience.

It was going to take four to eight weeks to get one to my specs, so I took one that was close off the lot.

I feel like your sales weenie should've at least been able to give you an estimated delivery date... sure maybe it takes him a few extra phone calls, but that's his job. I can't recall any major purchase where I haven't been given one, or have had to beat somebody up for one.

Having a date should also help with being patient. These things sometimes do take time, and although it's hard, you've got to try.

Once it's in your eager little paws, you'll forget all about the waiting. :)

When I bought my B2620 the dealer didn't have one on the lot. Although they have a sister store about 100 miles away that did. It didn't have the tires I wanted on it though and they would have to come from Kubota. I bought the tractor and about 4 days later it was waiting at my dealer's lot with the new tires from Kubota on it. They actually had to wait on me to come off of working nights to deliver it. I had a really good group on guys working with me at Jasper Farm and Ranch.

Er, would that be an M5040 or an L5240? Some wise guy might say the delay is because he's looking for a model they don't actually make. But I wouldn't yank your chain like that :). Seriously, congratulations on your new tractor. It will no doubt give you good service. Photos expected upon delivery, which we hope will not be long.

Actually they make both a L5040 and L5240, I believe the former is GST and latter HST with a little HP difference.

Yup. The L5040 is a ROPS only GST. The L5240 is an HST that can be had in both ROPS or CAB.

I just noticed that you can't get a Grand L in 2wd except for the smallest one, an L3240. Interesting.

That's what I cut my teeth on!

No pampering here... HST, P/S, and foam padding are luxuries.

Now, a cab? That's just coddling. :D

One of the tractors I used growing up on a farm was an Allis Chalmers with a hand crank and steel wheels to use in "new ground" as the stobs/roots etc were a bear on our other rubber tired tractor.

Now if it was up to me, we wouldn't have any of these girly tractors, but being a real man and all, I will do what it takes to make my wife happy even if it means riding around in an air conditioned tractor:eek:

In all seriousness, when I went shopping for a 30-40 HP tractor, I was going to get an open station tractor. The first place we stopped, my usual dealer, had a used L5030 HSTC that had just been put on the lot. My wife immediately went over to it and wanted it. I told her a. It's too big. b. We can't afford it. We then looked at everything from a B3200 up and decided on an L3940/L4240. This was on a Sunday and when I called Monday to order one, my wife asked me to "just check on that big tractor".

As you can see, I bought it. The upside is that I love it and the downside is that not only was she right, but I was WRONG. Now as to the M8540, did I mention that my son has terrible allergies;)

Y'know, I do seem to recall that you did mention it somewhere or 'nother.

Getting that nice big cab was just the selfless thing to do. :D
