2023 or 2030?

Olympus, I understand where you and OldtoyBoyd are coming from. However, just because it is wet, doesn't mean the grass quits growing around a pond. There are springs around that area that I can't do a thing about. I just have to deal with it. Behind the pond dam stays wet just about year round too. Again, I need something that can help me keep that area cleaned up. I certainly don't like those creepy crawling things called snakes (poison kinds) that love that kind of environment.

My tractor will be used primarily on the pond property and in the garden area behind the pond. It will not bother me should the time arise where I need to use it once in a blue moon in the yard.

I didn't say keep it parked. I just said from experience, that they still slip and slide after being filled. It does get better traction till it slips. I am like most, the grass still needs cut and I still need to get to the lower section of my property, rain or shine.

Point well taken. As our lives become filled with more and more adult things and little ones too, we have less time to wait for the prime moment to go get our outdoor chores done. I've watched quite a few youtube videos of tractor owners, both large and smaller tractors with R4 tires on them. What appeared to be dry land on top turned into a muddy mess and the tractor was buried up to the axles in the blink of an eye. With my property layout, there is no way I can get a tow truck back there to help get a stuck tractor out and this is one of the major reasons I'm being so careful with my purchase up front.

Your comment is very much appreciated. It helps me understand much more about the R4 tires. My Farmall Cub only has Ag tires on the rear, and I can't recall ever getting it stuck. That's not to say it can't be done though. I know better than that.

I'd look into a sickle type mower or an offset brush hog then. One that's offset where you can keep a tractor on dry ground and let the sickle or deck hang over and cut the wet stuff.

Already there with the sickle bar mower. It's attached to my John Deere 322 right now. The ground springs are all over the place. Even up mid way of the hill into the garden space I can hit wet spots plowing when we've had a really dry spell.

There are springs that feed the pond too. Sure is nice to go take a dip in the pond during the summer and float right over those cold springs! Love to get the inner tube out and just park on top of one of those springs.

There are advantages to both sides. Right now, I'm trying to figure out the best combination of tractor & tires for my situation. I'm sure the R1 Ag tires are the way to go, so I'm trying to nail down the proper tractor with support after the sale.

LS G3033H, Ls XR3032H are my primary considerations. Price, availability, dealer support, dealer proximity for warranty service. The Cub is 64 years old and has seen better years even though I've restored it. That clay soil is killing that little 10 Hp engine though.

I am going to sipe the tires on my R4047 when I get time.
I am curious if it will help in the mud the way it does for the guys up north in the snow.

If you do, could you let us know how it helped? Also, what is the composition of your soil? I know you wrote about clay type of soil, but is it the grayish-white type or the red-clay type. I don't guess it matters very much.

Once clay gets the least bit wet, it's slicker than a baby's behind with baby oil on it.

Hey Guys, new here. Just added a new LS 2030 to my inventory. Got it for light work around the farm. Really like it. The single pedal is not an issue for me. I, m used to driving old tractors. I wanted the extra 5hp. Got a great dealer here in Mo. Just 2miles up the road. He, s putting on a set of remotes for me . Later.
