2 Stoke oil- Can I use TC-W in an air cooled TC engine?

I've got a gallon jug of outboard 2 stroke oil that I no longer have the outboard for.
Can I run the TC-W (w=water cooled) 2 stroke oil in my air cooled 2 stroke engines? I know TC-W is made for water cooled engines, but will it hurt my air cooled chainsaw engines?

It's be fine - chainsaw motors are low-performance, basic, and just about bulletproof. You have to be careful with high-performance and powervalve-equipped motors. You can dump just about anything in a saw and it'll be fine. Truly.

If you are afraid to put it into your saw's motor, and don't want to just start a bonfire with it, use it for bar oil.

Back in the early 80's before I knew better, I used Pennzoil TCW outboard oil in a stihl chainsaw, echo leaf blower and shindaiwa weedeater for years without any issues. I did have an echo weedeater that carboned up the muffler from it and discontinued using the oil after that. The engine on that weedeater suffered no damage and I still use it today along with the stihl chainsaw and echo leaf blower. The carb on the shindaiwa trimmer crapped out and I just got rid of that rather than put any money in it.

So my real life experience is it did not damage any motors although it did carbon up a muffler one time. Today I use Mobil 2T in my 2 cycle equipment. But if I was out of that oil I would not hesitate to mix up a gallon or two until I could get some of my regular oil.
