I would have left the receiver a tad longer to accommodate the plug on the opposite end for storage. Or maybe it could be used as a step somewhere while in storage mode.

Can't do that - that'd be where I lost it to.

Pic of an ATV cargo bench carrying tools for the project.
I KNEW this 2" receiver in the blade was gonna be useful.

Now I want to see a picture of you guiding your boat trailer in the water. That would make the whole project worth it.

At 2.2mph (on the rabbit setting) it would take me 10 hours to get to the nearest lake.

Here's a pic of towing a trailer.

Carrying the trailer uphill.

It worked so well I'm inspired to build a dedicated trailer. Perhaps deleting the trailer-ball, using a solid drawbar & caster wheels. Drawbar hinged up & down & twisting.

Carrying the trailer... That's just funny for some reason.

Put a pintle hitch on it, would give you lots of articulation, especially if you put a swivel between the hitch & the trailer frame.

Able to carry the trailer is an uncommon luxury, actually. It never occurred to me before.

A tiny utility trailer with a pintle hitch would be truly funny though, worthy of "best of TBN".

I may just have to steal your idea for my mini. It looks pretty handy.

If you had a hitch on each end, you could tow the trailer into a narrow dead end, unhitch, pick it up, swing it 180 degrees, then set it down ready to tow out.

yeah but... pretty easy to attach to the blade, much harder to get to the undercarriage on the other end. But yeah that could be a good thing for switchback trails.

Thanks for the awesome photos that proves the value of your hitch. Great project results.

Maybe build a heavy duty "ski" (couple feet long X a foot wide) under the tongue. Build it so that when trailer is unhooked you can still get under it with your "hydraulic ball hitch".

Hmmmm Then flick the hitch ball lever closed with the bucket? I'll have to try that.

This is a small, lightweight setup, that should be used for ~500 lbs or so. Way easier than using muscle.

Same idea, not quite a mini
