Hi,

I am looking for an engine block heater for my john deere 310 A or B. It's the 3 cylinder diesel engine. I can't find a stock block heater, does anyone have any recommendation of what type will fit my block? Thanks

Technically one can not use a block heater but can use a canister heater similar to photo.

Yes that coolant heater should be ok.

Technically that image of the tank heater is too high. The hot coolant from the heater should not travel "downhill" into the engine.

Are you referring to the photo I posted?

No freeze(expansion) plug hole available to install a block heater on a 310B engine.

If it were me, I might consider going to Kennedy Diesel and buying one of his add-on heaters. Like a heating pad you install on your pan. That is what I'm going to do on my tractor.

You must live in some semi tropical temperate climate. A 300W oil pan heater will not warm the combustion chambers at 10F let alone -20F

You are correct I live in the tropics. I live where last year it only got down to -15. It was a warm winter. :D

I didn't know we needed to warm the combustion chambers. I thought it was like any diesel rig. My 2500HD Diesel Truck gets her oil warm in winter and she responds with pleasure. I let her purr for a few minutes and she warms right up. I'm hoping the same response will come from my tractor.
