How much horsepower would it take to run a 15 ft cutter.
Probably 10 to 15 % grade (guessing on grade %, about a 3 to 1 slope).
Been looking at a JD 5520 MFWD open cab.

John Deere calls for a minimum of 55 hp pto to run both their CX15 and their HX15 flex-wing rotarty cutter. Don't know what kind of hp you would need to add for the grade, but the 5520 has lots of power to offer. I seriously considered a 5420, but decided on something a little smaller.

The 5520 has I believe 72 or 75 pto hp which should be fine to run a 15' cutter. You might want some weights on the front for doing hills or if you have a loader on that would do it.

Thanks guys. Just did not want to get something a lot bigger than we needed.
This stuff is quite a bit bigger than my 2210!!!
Good idea about the weights. No loader. The loaders on ag equipment are not too good for construction applications. Visability is limited.
