I got my small tire changer mounted to the workbench yesterday . The bracket was very loose so I made shims for the side and end and took out 90% of the play. I may have to tweak it a bit as it looks like it is not going to last too long . :irked:

One of my favorite days of the year is going to buy steel. Today I bought 4 full sheets and 25 or 30 smaller pieces of misl. 1/4in. thick to 1/8th in. thick . This should keep me busy for a while:laughing:

Today I pulled the brakes off the transaxle and the pins were rusted solid. I cleaned everything and got everything loose again. Also today I pulled the carb bowl off for the very first time Holy CRAP !
Now I see after closer inspection a fresh oil leak from the engine
Could be a cracked block
I have my moments when I really regret dragging this one home. But I have enjoyed trying to revive it even if it ends up out back and never gets used at all. :laughing:

I don't blame your grandson for loving it - I LOVE IT!! That thing is awesome! I'll bet he's a chick-magnet when he's on that thing!!

You really do some great work, Waldon52! I am envious of your skills and imagination. I'm having trouble just getting a bracket for my FEL bucket thumb completed so I can have some sort of grapple.

I was thinking about you the other day while I was perusing Craigslist. There were a bunch of ads for JD 110 parts that a guy was getting rid of. Based on the prices that he was asking for the fenders, etc., he was pretty proud of them! Big bucks!

Waldon, awesome work...love seeing this old beauty's restored to their youthful days. Was wondering where you find your steel at. Could use some to start a couple projects for some implements I could use.

The rust removal in tight spots I use the dremel , one of the bits is like a pointed rasp and it gets in real tight spots . This carb bowl is going in the trash though , too far rusted.

My grandson is 3 so a good age for garden tractors .
Those jd round fenders I bought were $15.00 each , not that rare.
Todays progress picture shows me working on the rear hood and fenders . You can see my $5.00 garage sale Harley Chrome pipe too. On the workbench in the back you can see my new plastic gas tank . I am just waiting for the carb rebuild kit yet. Hope by Tues. I will be driving it out of the workshop and get going on the round fender trailer project.
My lift table looks like it is going to take six weeks ? But once I get it , it will be so nice .

I buy my steel at Gaylord Fabrication , they are pricy but it is so handy just three miles away. At one time I had to drive to Traverse City because no-one had a big shear in Gaylord. The one place that did have a big shear was dull and did not cut the thin metal very clean. All the edges had to be ground smooth and that was a big pain. It costs several hundred bucks each visit , good to plan on spending a thousand :shocked: But it lasts me about a year so not too bad.

Todays picture looks much better with some bodywork and paint on the rear fenders . Nothing fancy but it has been another fun project.:thumbsup:

I bought number 15 today ! It has a sweet running 18 hp twin cylinder Briggs. I love the twin cylinder engines . I got the new gas tank in the Bolens today and also got the new carb kit installed . It idles perfect but spits and sputters throttling up. If all goes well tomorrow I will pull all 15 machines out back for a group picture.:cool2:
