1 Major RTV900 Problem

Ok I work at a dealer so im not making it up. The problem may just be Southwest related to the desert here in AZ.

But we have been having a lot of failer's with the spider bearing in the rear axles. The failures are mostly do to the bearing not being grease-able. If it could be greased we wouldn't have any problems with it. We have done 4 RTV's already all with this problem.

They seem to go out at any time. We had a couple around 1200 hours and the other 1 was only at 380 hours. But I think it may be caused more from the dryness out here and all the dust.

Has anyone else had this problem?

What are the symptoms? Can you describe what the failure looks or sounds like?

dealer replaced mine at 200 hr only sign was a occasional squeak comes and goes cost me 165.00 if it goes out again i will try to cross it over to a greasable one.

We sell 50-60 a year and I can't say I've noticed any chronic problems with that. We are also in the north east.

It may be a southwest problem then. Problably do to all the dust and heat.

What is a spider bearing and where is it in the rear axle, I know what a spider gear is, never heard of a spider bearing, is it like a universal joint in a driveshaft only located in the axle?
