My wife and I purchased some acreage 2 years ago. We plan to move there in about 6 years. We know what our dream should look like but really don't know enough to do it all by ourselves. Thanks to this site and the good people here I have been able to gain enough knowledge to buy a tractor and start building our dream property. This is truly a valuable resource.

I feel that Tractorbynet has opened up the potential of the Power-Trac. There is so little documentation on these machines outside of Tractorbynet. The resources here extend the value of the machines tremendously.

I was among the original Yanmar owners to migrate over to TBN from the old Yahoo Yanmar group when roger_scottie convinced Muhammad to start a Yanmar forum. I was a retired cash register mechanic, with a pretty good background and training in troubleshooting mechanical problems and spent a good part of 33 years doing so over the phone. This was a good way to continue that routine, although with different machines; but "fixin' is fixin'", whether it's ball point pins, pinball machines, lawn mowers, locomotives or tractors.

I got a job with a tractor dealer two years ago, after 30+ years in a totaly unrelated industry. The wealth of information I have learned here has been invalueable to me. Thank you so much TractorByNet and all of you TBNers out there that have contributed to my education. I would have needed a student loan to pay for everything I learned here.
Congrats TNB on 1 mil and thanks again.

Hm.. it would be hard to narrow down exactly TBN is such a good forum, but I'll throw my comments into the bowl anyway.

1st, due to the vast membership, virtually every make and model of tractor is represented here.. everything from the rusty antiques and orphans, to the super high dollar industrial machines, farm and agricultural equipment, specialty hybred type machines, and a vast amount of imports.

esentially.. if you have a tractor question.. usually.. at least one or more of the members here has that tractor, has had that tractor, or knows someone who has that tractor, to go along with that... just about any type of mechaincal failure possible has happened, or has been read about by the membership here. To borrow a term from another popular website.. I tend to refer to this forum as 'Tractor-pedia' ( ref wikipedia.. web resorurce ).

I check in almost every day. Really enjoy postings of others projects, pictures etc. Being able to fabricate sure makes things easy when someone posts a pic and its something I can use on my tractor so I build it. Its the only forum I check into. A wealth of info and great people. Thanks to all who make the forum happen and keep it going. I greatly appreciate your time and effort in doing so.

Keep up the good work! Still trying to make up my mind on the next tractor purchase and TBN has proved to be a wonderful source of information and content.

TBN was(is) an invaluable asset in helping my purchase and maintain my JD2210. Congratulations on the milestone!

To me, TBN means that collectively, we are all smarter than I am by myself! I can learn from everyone else and hopefully avoid costly mistakes thereby making the process of tractor ownership more enjoyable, less expensive, and safe.

Great site; excellent information; outstanding members.......

I found TBN when doing a search about tractors ,a few days after i bought mine.I was also was brand new on a computer and the internet, and couldnt type for beans.Tbn and tractors has opened up a new love for me.
I guess ,i like a little bit of attention, and like to show off my projects, after 20 years of marrage, the wife doesnt seem suprised by my skills to build stuff any more,so i enjoy everyones praise alot of folk give me.I also like constructive critisizm, and alternative ways of looking at things.
I like the way people act on here.We have a few who irritate a little, but over all we are all a good bunch of folk, who like the same things.I have joined atv sites and snowmobile sites,to talk about those subjects, but there are alot of rude, immature and arrogant people on there,so i dont visit very often.I have often found myself running out of ideas to post about my tractor,so i enjoy rural living and related topics quite much.I try to post with kid gloves sometimes because i really dont like the feeling i get when ive made a fellow tbner mad...i just want to keep it friendly.I enjoyed talking with certain individuals, who are now banned,so i absolutely dont want it to happen to me.I hope someday these folks might be allowed to return,if they promise to behave,we all make mistakes.
I guess the bottom line is this is a nice place to visit, where you can have an intellegent chat, and get some problems solved to boot.

so were does one find out what number (overall) this post (or any post) would be?

While I don't post much I do find myself scanning the many posts from others. I'll have to say by doing so I've saved myself a few trips and calls to the dealer. Thanks to all who post and have helped everyone else with the adventures of owning a tractor.

I have found TBN to be an asset beyond compare. I recently put my pennies down on a John Deere 3520 CUT. Having never owned a tractor before I was a bit bewildered by all the new ground I was trying to break, in my effort to make a wise purchasing decision. It was all the wonderful folks here at TBN that gave me the education I needed to make an intellegent, informed decision as to what to purchase and a reasonable price to expect to pay.

Another thing I wanted to mention too was that one post I sent, about a JD purchase, landed in the Kubota forum. Don't know how I did it but I did. Now on many boards that I've been on in past, that kind of misstep would have resulted in Nomex melting responses. Only one gentleman, politely responded to my query, with a pointer in the right direction and that was that. Kudos TBN'rs

My next milestone is to actually take delivery of my new baby and put her into service. Needless to say I'm chomping at the bit on that one.

If I had to summarize what I have found at TBN, it would be "entertaining information". I STILL don't own a tractor, but will before too long, and what I like is that now, I know what questions to ask and what to look for.

And the camaraderie here is actually quite remarkable. I feel like I have known many members for many years as friends, just from reading about their trials and tribulations. Everyone has made me feel welcome whenever I do post, and it makes one feel like a member of a friendly community, which of course it is!

TBN has been and I'm sure will continue to be the most respected source of valuable information, experience and support that I have encountered regarding all aspects of owning and operating a tractor. Like many others here I was a lurker and for the most part still am. I have recieved honest and straight forward answers to questions, had the pleasure of meeting a fellow TBN'er (Richard of BRO-TEK) and eventually may even have some experience to pass along in return. The information learned here eventually led to my purchase of a new BX23 just over a year ago.

I would like to thank all of the participatants of Tractor by net for their views and opinions on tractors to attachment to projects that has helped me to make my selection and thinking process a much easier journey. The term of collective wisdom can not be understated on this site; while as individuals we have a piece of the puzzle together we have all of the pieces to solve the puzzle.

Thanks
