While researching these before I purchased one question always stuck in my mind. Why do they all run the small diameter rear roller instead of just having a pair of caster wheels off the back of the unit?

Could you maybe explain what happened to the rear roller and what failed?

I like the fact that they come with a selection of bushing so you have a better than fair chance of having at least one set that works.

Just as I hit send my phone rang. It was Yanmar Support. According to them the YT235 does not have a PTO brake so no overrunning clutch is required. Hopefully that’s correct information. It could get spendy if that’s incorrect.

I’m familiar with the slip clutches but this unit already comes with a shear bolt for excessive load. I’m more concerned with the weight of the flywheel causing access wear to the PTO brake if the tractor has one installed.

I made the same mistake when I was trying to find information on this grapple. That website is for Carolina Attachments. The grapple that I purchased is Carolina Implements which doesn’t appear to have a website. I was told that they are dealer direct only.

It sucks. I’ve been waiting 6-1/2 months for the front end loader. It’s been a huge comedy of errors.

I just noticed something. If you go back to the very first post in this thread and look at the first two pictures that show a grapple sitting on the showroom floor you can see that in fact the jaw is closed further. I’m guessing mine is going to need some touch up on the tips of the teeth.

Below you can see just the tiniest bit of interference on the two outer teeth. If the cylinders do in fact have enough travel to close the jaw even further this wouldn’t take five minutes to clearance with a side grinder. I’ll report on the outcome when the tractors is back in my possession.

Good find. It appears to be identical right down to the stickers. I wonder if these are just being imported and sold under multiple brand names? As you stated, anything can be fixed with a welder as long as the steel is decent quality.

I have it in my notes to check for grease points. I can see Zirk fittings on the upper cylinder connection points but I can’t see any others. A closer inspection will be required.

The heavy duty version is $2000 and I might be able to get it a bit lower. That seems to be comparable to a lot of the other 60”-62” on the market for what appears to be a more well built unit. It just seems odd that I can’t find anything on the company itself.

Where I came from if you needed a post hole you basically just dug rocks out of the ground until you had a big enough hole. You couldn’t dig 6 inches without hitting a decent size boulder. So far I haven’t been able to find a single rock on the entire property. It’s very strange to me.

Quick update. Thankfully the problem was the cable and not the valve. The aluminum bell where the cable connects to the bottom of the control valve had a manufacturing flaw that kept it from making a weatherproof gasket seal to the bottom of the valve. Having been parked outside it's whole life...

As near as I can tell everything is just buried in 20+ years of undergrowth and the tree litter that rains down around here every time a cloud farts. The loggers are taking care of that by clear cutting the pine to make pastures and feed plots while leaving all of the native hardwoods.
