I’ve tried the county and all of the local well drilling companies that have records that go back far enough. Zero records on any of these wells.
I’ve been able to piece together a surprising amount of information from the previous owner and some catalogs and mailers that keep showing up for the owner before him.
The fellow that was here before me was a DEA agent and a very nice guy but a bit paranoid. There’s a full security system with a large number of cameras on both houses in much of the surrounding forest. He was only here for 2 1/2 years. He ended up staying on as a groundskeeper for a couple of months while we got our other house sold.
The fellow before him was the one that built both of the houses on the property back in 1996 and 1998. It turns out he was a Class III arms dealer and also did private and police training on the property.
He built a Class III gun vault in the center of one of the houses. Concrete reinforced cinderblock walls, 1 inch overlapping rebar ceiling set on 6 inch centers, and a steel security door with triple deadbolts set top, middle, and bottom. Perfect for my personal toys and a great safe room in the event of a hurricane.
I was cleaning up around the shooting bench for the 300 yard range and I noticed the garbage can at the end of the shooting bench hadn’t blown over during any of the past storms. I expected it to be full of garbage but when I tried to move it it didn’t budge. I popped the lid and found this. A brand new IFAK and a large quantity of bright shiny brass. I have no idea why it didn’t corrode in this Florida humidity.
There’s also a large pit dug into one of the banks with only a narrow entrance in and out. That’s where I found the Kubota
B3030 parked. Perfect for a 360° pistol training range. By the looks of it I think that’s what it was intended for.
Also found a huge blue tote full of older pistol ammo and three large blue totes full of what appears to be high-grade anthracite coal. I’m guessing he was a Y2K prepper.
No more cool tractor stuff…
