My old BX1850 had the lift linkage on leftside that used to required minor adjustment to get deck to lift fully. Had the tractor 2 or three years and had to adjust at least once every year. I also removed and installed deck several times a year. I do not recall the adjustment procedure though.

Brake line flares are totally different than hydraulic tube flare. I have hydraulic tube flare made by Parker Hannifan that has worked very well for me. No clue on a source for a good brake flaring tool though.

I highly doubt a Ford 4000 has 22 GPM flow unless someone added a large reservoir and auxilary pump. Might want to confirm pump flow and purchase appropriately sized valve.

If my math is correct 5” cylinder would extend approximately 1.6 inches per second with 8 GPM inlet flow

Looking at pictures of 4700 series they appear to have bolt on adjustable rims so should be easy enough to swap wheels side to side and keep similar wheel stance especially if tires are not filled with fluid. Agree with stems to the inside is a real pain in the arse.

Lower You might want to check to see what wheels widths are available on your tractor. Some smaller tractors have very minimal adjustment while others usually larger tractors have infinite adjustment. Common row crop widths today are 15”, 20”, 30”, 36-38”.

Sounds like linkage or cable broke on joystick. Is your joystick mounted direct to the valve or connected via cables? If direct mount carefully move the rubber boot until you can see the linkage. If cable connected check both ends to see if one of the cables broke or became disconnected.

Since the grease is traveling down at least half the length of the pivot pin the joint is getting grease. Grease is going to take path of least resistance so if side clearance between loader arm and support is tighter than diametrical clearance it will come out around the end of the pin.

Is that grease coming out through the flat spots between the painted frame and zink bolt or pivot pin? If yes then I would presume grease is also getting into the pivot joint. Where was the grease cross hole in the bolt- pivot pin?

What you are describing sounds like the vent tube on the engine. Have you checked engine oil level? Does engine start easily? Does engine smoke excessivly? Is this something that just started to happen or has it gotten steadily worse over time?

Lou, Looked at the TM1517 service manual and I could find nothing stating that any sealant needed to be applied to those bolts. Just states install cap screws and tighten to 150 in-lbs using criss cross pattern.

First thing I would check is if there is a fuse in the circuit and or are you getting power to the switch. Next are you getting power to PTO coil.

Have you checked to see if you are getting voltage to the starter? That is first place I would start is where do I have voltage and where do I not have voltage. Typically click indicates starter solenoid is working.

No clue on if JD made model without the pull switch option. Doubtful but not sure. My son just wedged a cloths pin under the knob on his to keep override disabled. This works for him since his young son occasionally drives the tractor so makes much easier to have switch active as required.

For the reverse override on your X500 do you have to pull up on the deck engagement lever. If yes very simple to override you just have to put jumper wire across two contacts on that switch. This way just remove jumper and safety is now active.

I believe the K72 is a durable transaxle just keep the cooling fins clean and check the plastic fan occasionally to make sure something didn’t get poked up in it and break some blades off. If similar to my X540 you can easily see the fan from the rear on upper right side of transaxle.

I think you did OK. Were you able to obtain any service records from previous owner? that transaxle has a replaceable filter so if no records might want to consider changing that filter and fluid. Pretty easy task once you get deck removed. Will need small neck funnel to refill the transaxle.
