Tractor
Yanmar 155D
Hey everyone, I just got my tractor home yesterday and noticed a few things that I'd like to fix and some that need to be fixed. I come asking this first question though.

Can anyone share a picture of the mounting location of the fuel filter assembly for a Yanmar 155d? The previous owner deleted it and I'd like to add it back.

From an online manual, perhaps this horrible picture may help:

The link from @careyo63 works for me.

A video;

IIRC: there's a long and a short version, but I don't know which fits on a 155D.

All the best,

Peter
This was extremely helpful, shows exactly the location i thought it belonged in.

In that era, Yanmars had two different height filter elements. With a different height fuel bowl for each. The filter assemblies with horizontal output were otherwise identical.

I suggest standardize on the element that was OEM spec for your tractor, even if you have to buy the matching bowl, just to keep future maintenance simple.

BTDT. Didn't realize my larger tractor uses the smaller element, after I had the old element in the trash can and the only replacement I had on hand, was too tall to fit.

On the YTOG we debated in good fun the shorter vs taller fuel filter and bowl. The conclusion was, if there is room, go taller.

To summarize the points for the taller:
- easier to check the bowl for contamination as it's taller. More junk keeps at the bottom while bouncing around on the land.
- shorter means, you change filters much more often at the same price of the taller filter.
- if you venture out into mowing a multi-acre pasture for the afternoon, better have a taller filter setup vs shorter, just in case it clogs up and you have to walk back miles!
- taller filter means more surface area available, thus it takes more time to completely clog.
- taller filter bowl is easier to grab onto with your hand whilst untwisting the locking ring. thus no fuel spilling over your hand like the shorter bowl.
- taller filter can be purchased in many places like auto parts stores, off-road ATV/UTV shops, and motorcycle shops. The shorter filter isn't as popular.
