Slowing down hydraulic snowblower controls

My needle valve works in both directions, so only needed 2 of them... there are ones that only work in one direction.

There is usually an adapter between the hose and the actuator (motor or cylinder).

What I've done in the past, was to partially tap the hole in the adapter, then just use set screws of the same thread with a very small hole drilled (this can be drilled till you find the sweet spot or even do various set screws with difference hole sizes).

Finally install the set screw in the adapter, which will bottom out on the thread, hence why it's a partial thread and won't go all the way through, so it's locked in place. There is not real need for any thread locker or sealant.

I’m unable to find a bidirectional needle vale in any hydraulic shops in my area and can’t seem to find one on line either. The ones that show bidirectional have only one arrow on them. I already ordered one but I had to send it back because it wouldn’t work.

A simple needle valve restricts in both directions and may or may not have any arrows. A flow control that restricts in one direction and free flows the other will typically have an arrow showing direction of controlled flow.

No that is incorrect. A needle valve is designed to restrict flow in only one direction unless it is a bidirectional needle valve. The arrows are meant so it is installed in the direction of flow.

I have a cylinder on the deflector and a motorized chute rotator on my Woods SS74 PTO snow thrower. I use these inexpensive .045 restrictors on both hoses and they work fine:

That is exactly what I am looking for. Unfortunately the link is not working for me.

I use the same type restrictor to slow the cylinder on my grapple. You only need one in one of the hoses.
