Any idea what leaves a track like this? It looks like a mini bulldozer went through our yard last night. The tracks lead to under our crawlspace. Groundhog? Really fat racoon with its belly dragging? It's warmed up to a balmy -6F so I'm going to head out to plow. I'll walk back there and see if there are any recognizable foot prints in the track.

I vote for a snow mole chasing ice worms.

Speaking of non AI stuff, I finally got a decent pic of a male Cardinal.

My friend and I got up early yesterday morning and drove up to McConnells Mill State Park (SW PA, about an hour north of me) after the fresh snow we got (5" maybe?). Saw a couple wrecks along the way (one car on it's roof with emergency crews around), but my Camaro made it no problem with the snow tires, and someone who knows how to drive ;D Then we made a short but treacherous hike along the opposite bank of the creek to get to the far side of the dam for this perspective, all the while trying not to slide down the steep, rocky hill into the freezing water. You can see in the photo it was still snowing at the time. I think it turned out well.

Nice! When our oldest daughter lived in Pittsburgh (and worked in Monroeville) she took us there once. (y)

Nice picture, are those chem trails ?

Could be just cloud formations caused by high atmospheric winds. While Washington and Oregon are getting drenched with rain, that same storm system in Nevada is mainly high winds and fantastic cloud formations:

Tumbleweed Bonanza....

The recent wind storms have buried some of our roads under masses of tumbleweeds. Drove down this county road today. For about 6 miles there are massive piles of tumbleweeds on both sides of the road that the County is preparing to burn. They pile up so deep on the roads it is impossible to drive through them. In one area about a quarter mile of fence had been flattened, pushed over by tumbleweeds caught in the wire.
