Kubota 3410 HST. I am replacing my rear tires. I took them off to take to tire dealer to have the new ones mounted. While they were off, I cleaned things up a bit and this part (see photo) caught my attention. I could not tell what it did, and the very intentional-looking lever-like device with teeth did not seem to relate to any other part. However, it also seemed bent outward a bit and that may be why I cannot see what it is to connect to or function with. I played around with other functional levers on the deck to see if anything moved there, but none seem to affect this part. I will pick up the new tires in a day or two but before I remount the new tires, I thought I should learn something about this part - given that it may be bent.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am prepared to be embarrassed by something I should know but do not. And BTW, I also found a couple of missing bolts on another part that I would not have easily seen with the tires on.

It does look bent ;-)

I have no idea "what it is", have you tried moving it and seeing what wiggles elsewhere?

Interesting that TWO cables are part of a position loking lever/

My first thought would be the locking mechanism for the parking brake.

CalG, I can't move it by hand - it is very firm/stiff. I did try moving some of the functional levers on the tractor deck to see if any of that would affect this part but I did not see that any that I tried did. I have the original manual but nothing there shows or addresses this. I am thinking that the part with teeth needs to be been in- or repositioned inward - in which case it could connect to another part in front of it. I am alone now so hard to view this part while trying out other levers, etc. but tomorrow I may be able to have someone help with that.

It's the cruise control.

My thought as well, as it would seem it could be - and would need to be 'released' as a brake would be, but moving the brake does not seem to affect it - but I really need another person here to really check that out. Will try that tomorrow if I can round up someone else.

Aha! - RJ, Thank you - the diagram you have provided is precisely what I see. And I guess a reason why I did not know and could not figure it out is that I have never, ever used the cruise control on the tractor.

That's sure a puzzler beowolf! Sorry but I have no idea what it might be for? Like Randy I first thought of brake lock, but it's spread too far apart for that. Hope you can get it figured out!

I thought I would use the cruise control on my last 2 tractors... But no. First one (coincidentally an L3410) was manual and I never used it. My current L4060 has electronic cruise control, and I thought I would use it.... But no.

This came in just as I posted and it's most likely right! I've got cruise on my tractor but have only used it to try it out! Good diagnosis RJ!!
