I'm done with the road race bikes, sold my TCR. I want to ride wider tires. The TCX has 40mm on it. Really enjoying the change. Now I can ride dirt roads and bike paths.

Since 2016 I have been doing 30 mile rides, three days/week and 10 mile rides two days/week. Two of my long rides are on paved trails and the other long day is a road ride.

For my trail rides I am using a Trek Dual Sport 2 and for the road ride, it is my Cannondale CAAD 10. Also still have my old Schwinn mountain bike with a TON of trail miles on it and my 1974 Raleigh Grand Prix that I've had since new.

As much as I love the CAAD 10, the Trek is just so cushy, it is my go-to ride. Lately, all my routes have been under construction and I've been spending a lot of time on the CAAD 10 on the trainer.

My wife and I bought new bikes back in 2022 with the intention of transporting our bikes to concrete paths.
Maybe ridden about 10 times since. Local country roads are dangerous with no shoulders and dog allowed to run loose.

Thats neat. I ride mountain bikes and have built a few trails here on the property. I used to race them in high school, but don't ride nearly as much now. A fun sport for sure. I have a Trek Fuel 5, bought it new in 2021.

I had a motorcycle crash in the mid-90's that left me with a bum knee that killed my ability to ride a bicycle any distance. I could ride 5 miles or so then the pain would be so severe I couldn't even walk. I tried physical therapy with no success. A few years ago I broke down and bought an e-bike and it's been wonderful. It's pedal assist with no throttle. I can now do 30 mile days and my wife and I have been averaging about 1,000 miles/year. We had access to many miles of rails to trails from our old house and last month we moved to a place that's 1-1/2 miles from a trail with easy access on relatively safe county roads.

I have an old RANS V-Rex recumbent I rode every day when I lost a bunch of weight. I can't do the gym but the bike riding was enjoyable. It's in the garage with flat tires from years of neglect.

I’m a e bike rider also. I have a Trek Verve +3. At one time I was riding 2000 miles a year. I slacked off this last year and only went about 750 miles. It’s got 6500 miles on it now. My also doesn’t have a throttle. The best reason to own an e bike I’ve seen written is you will ride further, faster and more often.

I used to do 30-100 miles per week, road in summer, mountain in winter.
I got really sick and had to stop for a few years, did a few short runs last year.
Hard to ride right around where I am, really should pop down to the canal or park with the mountain bike.
I still have 5 bikes, one my son likes to borrow. Need to find one the wife likes.

I used to road race. I was really into it and traveled all over California to race. For a lot of years I was doing 8-9000 miles a year with lots of climbing. One year I did a million feet of climbing, and many years I was close to that.

Now I just ride my mountain bike a few times a week. Where we're moving to has a lot of trails. I'm looking forward to exploring them and getting some longer rides in.

I wonder around our local roads quite a bit. (something over 1000 miles per summer. ever since I put the Bafang mid motor on my old steel frame GT Richter 8 mountain bike.
Before the motor install, I just didn't ride because the hills are so long and steep I ended up walking the bike too often. Sort of took the fun out of a ride. Now, I go every where I had wanted to go before.

I still work my butt off, get winded and sweaty. But I don't need to push the bike on hills anymore.

For some reason, I don't enjoy sitting on the bike and just using the electric motor, even though there is a thumb throttle. I have a few motorcycles for that!

I've been riding bikes most of my life until 10 years ago when my hips gave out. After two hip replacements, I switched to e-bikes and have been back in the saddle for 6 years. Now, at 79, I ride mostly trails and get into some fairly remote locations I could never reach before. The e-bike gives me confidence knowing I can get back should I have a problem and am not able to pedal effectively.

I ride farther, longer and get more exercise than I ever did on my conventional bikes.

Since I moved back here to my childhood home I haven't been riding much. I have to drive somewhere to ride without being suicidal. When I was a teenager the 4 lane was new and there was hardly any traffic. So riding was fine. There is so much traffic now

That is a cool old bike.

This thread is motivating to me. I used to ride a lot. I might actually get a trainer. Where I live now I have to drive to safe riding areas, other than scooting around the property on my mountain bike.

I used to ride an old, heavy mountain bike in the hills. Due to lack-of-balance issues, the bike now collects dust.
I am looking to get back on the trails and roads with one of these e-assist fat tire trikes:

Yup.. been group road riding for about 20 years. Do 150 to 200 miles a week. Pinarello f12 is my current ride. I do a bit of gravel too.

So many people still ask this question of me. The bike is irrelevant. Any 70', 80's bike will do. Get a "FAT ASS SEAT." The big old school ones with springs. You may have to switch out the handlebars to midrisers. So you are riding up right. Move the gear selection to the handle bars. You only need three gears, even if its a ten speed. Use the set screws to just use three. Get rid of the front derailleur all together Paint it hot pink. So no one will steal it. Swap out the 27's for 26's cause the tires are cheaper and add some "suspension." Put on baskets and lights and fenders. Then ride it, every day, because its easy. And you don't have to worry about it. You won't even need a bike lock. Though I'd sell every bike with a lock. I made many conversions to this running a bike shop, and everyone was happy. They sold with in 30 minutes on C-list for my asking price. Its a bike no one wants to steal, but was entirely useful.
