Drip irrigation arrived today, for a small test plot of approx 200 evergreens. To combat new tree die off. Before I plant this fall, Most likely caused by lack of water. I shall see. Looking forward to learning something new. Insight and Tips by experienced irrigation folks is appreciated.

We put in 30 Norway spruce 12 years ago watered by hand, 4 years ago put in 40 more 5-6' size and installed 300' of 1/2" feeder line then the 1/4" drip line around each one with an orbit mechanical timer.

Some tips - pre-make all your 1/4" whips with like a 4' 1/4" feeder line - I did 24" circles (4 gal per tree in 60 minutes) then ran the 1/2" feeder line along the edge of all the trees then connect each whip to the main line and cover with mulch or dirt (I used my leaf compost).

It was about 10 minutes per tree to install, the most work was digging and burying the 1/2" feeder line. Very glad we put this in - so easy just to set the orbit timer for an hour and they all get watered evenly and easily.

Not nearly as "intense" as many of you guys, but a few months ago I bought a used Miata with 43k miles on it. Discovered it has a GDI engine which means carbon will build up faster. So I bought a can of CRC Valve & Turbo cleaner ($17 for 11 oz) and used it to clean the carbon off of the intake valve. Could tell it was working because the exhaust smelled much different during the process.

Miata is a great fun car. I've never owned one but I probably should have as I spent a lot of money owning all of it's competitors. Enjoy the drives.

Picked the Titan 3 point gooseneck and 2 inch receiver hitch. I inadvertently got the one with suitcase weight holder. Gotta move the splitter and trailers about. Nothing heavy. Lets see how it works. Still in the box out front

Bought a used damaged boat trailer. A huge fork lift unit set it on my trailer, and this is how I lifted it off once I got it home. Amazing the ideas you come up with at 2 in the morning. I used a set of chain falls on each end, and it worked great. The dog was in the house while this was happening.

I certainly don’t consider myself an expert, but did just plant 60 trees with drip irrigation. It’s .9 gal/ft and I have it on a timer to run 4 hours every 3 days. I also added about 4” wood chips over the entire area. After 2 weeks they are looking healthier than when planted.
Pic from not quite completed.

Just placed an order for 1 apple tree (granny smith), 1 orange tree (a kimquat-mandarin cross), 4 blue berries (southern high bush), 2 black berries (thorneless), and an elder berry. Been sitting on a "house warming" gift card for like 11 months, and figured it time. We have had pretty good luck with blue berries through the years, but not so much fruit trees.

- Bought some lag screws so I can assemble my tractor attachment rack.
- Bought some 1/4" rope for my sister flag pole. Existing rope is not going to make it thru another NE winter... Don't want to get up and find the flag on the ground.

Well I had to get a new grease gun hose and swivel. I had put my boom mower on and was greasing it when the hose let go at the swivel. It's on a Milwaukee M18 and it was stalling out on a fitting when it let go. Had to revert back to the old hand pump gun. A lot of fittings on this mower.

A long time ago I bought an Indiana comprehensive lifetime fishing license. It paid for itself after about 17-18 years.

Indiana cancelled the program a while back because federal dollars to the state's fish and wildlife programs are based on the number of fishing and hunting licenses sold the previous year. So anyone with a lifetime license purchased previously was not counted and reduced the $$ from the federal government.

Same thing with senior citizens that didn't require a license, or active military, etc...

Now they offer a voluntary license for something like $3 that you can purchase even if you don't require a license so that you get counted towards fed dollars.

Let me get this straight. The state wants you to pay $3 to get counted after buying a lifetime license to fish so they can get more $ because they can't account for the license you already bought? That sounds like govt working at it's best. Uhm, no.

They CAN account for the lifetime licenses... the Fed won't let them.

Still ... ridiculous. Govt at it's best. 😖
What part of lifetime license don't they get? Maybe the state needs to change the way they list the lifetime license to an auto renew annual license? Or a prepaid annual license? It just seems absurd that a lifetime license doesn't count in the annual licenses. That's all I'm saying :censored:
