Makita 18volt battery string review

I use one on mine.
I also use them on mine. Does not seem to be an issue. The only people I see without the guard are the ones using long line to cut open areas.

I’ve got the 18v Makita string trimmer, blower, hedge trimmer, as well as the chainsaw and pole saw that take 2x 18v batteries. I am very satisfied with them all.

My thoughts on aftermarket batteries are tainted.
The only battery fires that I am aware of have been with aftermarket batteries. They also seem to have a shorter life and less than claimed capacity.
I still have and use the first 3.0 ah 18v LXT battery that came with impact gun I bought when the LXT line was introduced 20 years ago.

Everything I have here is 18volt. (y)
I have about 6 10 year makita 18v batteries that still are in service. But I expect you know that if you're already makita.
I have 2 - 71/4" skillsaws and a chainsaw that all take 2 of them, I'd estimate that if they offered a string trimmer (2x18v) in 36v it might be a better option but for a normal trim @ every or every other mowing 1 battery would be fine and a little water break/rest to grab another battery might not be a bad thing.

About a year ago, in a moment of weakness I ordered a pair of "counterfeit" batteries.
It was a self inflicted "I told you so"🤪 Junk!

I have a lot of the Makita 18v tools and I am happy with all of them except the little hand vacuum. I bought a second one when the first became completely useless and it was no better.

So the blower motor got weak? Quit?

I bought mine a hand full of years ago and it still works fine. But maybe I'm using mine differently than you. I only use it to pickup dead bugs, occasional floor sweepings and steel chips on the table from the cold-cut saw.
