Hello All,

I have a JD950 with 3T90J Yamnar engine.
I’m currently doing an overhaul on the engine and having issues removing the cam shaft from the block.
The tech manual doesn’t really help on this, and can’t find any videos or online information.
I’ve removed the governed nut and governor and the Phillips screw with the bearing retainer.
I’m assuming the bearing is pressed into the block?
Any advise or tips would be greatly appreciated!

I have done 4 similar Yanmar engines from other Deere tractors. Camshaft removal was pretty straight forward. The plain bearings (sleeve bearings) were pressed in.

For JD, you often have to get a separate manual for the engine. Or aftermarket, like I & T.

Can you post some pix?

The tech manual shows that that bearing is pressed onto the cam.The cam should just pull out if you have the lifters (followers) out of the way.

I ended up getting it out. Had to put a pulley puller on the cam gear and reverse knock it out.

I was just going to reply saying to use a pulley puller as this is the way us with Yanmars often do it.

If you are into this deep of work on a Yanmar made machine, often the Deere owners come over to our Yanmar section for help or the YTOG.

Additionally, Deere has discontinued many parts for the 50 series. On the YTOG, we have the parts suppliers with the Yanmar OE parts that are the same for the Deere machines.
