Complete telemetry, plus internet..... gotta love it !

Remembering When.... dial-in was needed for that ^, now it just pops up on your, or multiple other, phones.....

This kind of Progress, Me Like .

Ya, the router and starlink are backed up with ups to cover it until generator starts up. I get email and push notification immediately upon power loss, or any change of state in the generator. I can monitor the generator from the cloud anywheres. This outage only lasted 1.2 hours.

Seamless power AND you have the Key Data @ your fingertips, doesn't get better than that.

If I still traveled (for work) like I did Years Past, That ^ is what I'd want in-place @ Home.

I still work maintaining generators and some minor electrical work for friends and old customers. I still like keeping updated as to generator operations.

Back ice-storm here, Central/East Ontario.

Out for 14 hours @ home, 7kw Briggs did fine. Needed the sump pump moving a LOT of water, job done.

Electronics..... some interesting things along the way. Got up @ 3am, could see this area not yet reported to hydro (Canuck Elec Util), so called on my wife's cell that I had the map on...... after about 10 minutes, it wasn't a "normal" call drop (lousy cell coverage), but got a BIG pop-up that said "This network is not supporting Voice calls at this time". Shedding load, with the tower on Emerg pwr.....

So, one of the reasons I still have a landline, is for times like yesterday...... spent 30 minutes on hold, to get someone live to report the outage early. Then..... got my gen running in good time.

New UPS doesn't like the AVR on my 7kw (kept switching back to battery, when the 7kw was under light-load). Haven't studied it further yet.... something for my ToDo list.

Internet was down, I'm on cable, and the pedestal boxes only have enough battery for a few hours. Buddy 2 hours away (same storm, but hit worse), had fibre down for a while too...... Starlink does look good, for times like these....

Hoping you don't NEED to run yours soon, but wishing they start-up fine if you do....

I have a smart meter on the house, and this auto reports power outages.

Yep, been running my Reds for about 12 hours, alternating between the two, since Sunday due to the ice storm here in eastern Ontario. Restoration is promised for tomorrow late. Time will tell…

UPS's generally don't like non inverter generator due to the Frequency moving up and down more than .5 hz

I have 5 ups devices. They never have any issues on my 22kw generac.

I have 13, never tried a generac, is it an electronic governor? I have tried 4 different non inverter generator's all the cheap units don't handle the generator if not inverter.

Never a bit of trouble with my 25KW pto unit, the ups's just charge backup and sit and wait.

The 22kw generac does have an electronic governor that uses a stepper motor to control the throttle governed by output frequency. My UPS’s are fine with it as well.

yea it prolly holds the hertz better, the mechanical linkages don't seem to be able to keep under .5hz which most of the cheap units require.

What popgadget says…… they also have a low thd so work great with electronics overall. When mines operating during power outage, nothing flickers or moans. Hard to tell im not on utility power.

Me too, but it's unable to communicate to the grid and neighbors are a long way off.
They still come and read it monthly and this is for many around here. 😆
Iirc at the time, they were getting highly paid by BO's administration so it was a profit item for the utility.
