snowmobiles

Now the sleds have like 160 HP which is nuts. I think mine was around 115HP and I got it up over 100
Yet in NH now, they will ticket you for going over 45 down a lake. Heck, in my younger days with a good tailwind I could almost RUN that fast!!! 🤥

And this is my Vintage 1980 Blizzard 7500 + ride. I call it "the around the yard sled" cause that's all it does.

I think riding a snowmobile is as close as you can come to driving a race car in terms acceleration and handling. The problem is, I don't know how to ride them other than all out. The last time I was on my Yamaha SRX triple, the speedometer said 112 and was still climbing, but I didn't dare look down anymore. That's why I don't ride any more. These bones are too old.

I believe you! Man there were times Id get off the trail after a day of riding and wonder how we made it through the woods without dying. lol! And yeah, that SRX of mine was scary fast! I swapped the 8" travel skid frame to a Polaris 18" travel skid and it was like a Cadillac on the trails. It couldn't handle the whoop sections like my buddies newer sleds but in the curves and straights they couldn't catch me. Only sled that ever gave me a true run was my father in laws AC 1000, if he got me out of the hole it was done for me but if I had a good start he wouldn't catch me, the top end of those triple 700's were endless. I never had the balls to top it out on any trail though so I never knew what its true top speed was.

Remember the Raider-the sled you sat inside of?
Most unusual!
That was a sled before it's time! Bombardier made a similar ride called the Elite. Still, that's like comparing a side-by-side ATV to a good sports bike... Two altogether different styles of riding.

Caution, high speed and a little salty language ahead. Good depiction of trail riding.
