Many of their flat wagons didn't.
This thread was about a model B grain drill not a farm wagon. Many JD wagon gears had tapered roller bearings. JD model 943 wagon which was introduced in 1947 had tapered roller bearings

I had a perfect Plan B, but it fell through. My neighbor had a tandem 4 place snowmobile trailer, but he sold it. Here is a pic of my snowmobile trailer. The stick is 11' from the shovel at a diagonal.

I would be a bit leery of a grain drill on that trailer. Might be fine but.

I sold a 13 run drill to a guy who drove several hours to get it. Loaded it crossways on a U-Haul open top cargo trailer. We unbolted the hitch and he left with it.

We have that exact grain drill,it's bigger and heavier(top heavy) than you think. Also have the same snowmobile trailer;wouldn't try to haul that drill on that trailer!
Beg ,borrow or steal ,rent HD flat-bed.

Thanks. I figured it looked sketchy. I figured the grain drill weighed 1300#. The problem is that the load would be tail heavy.

What do you figure that grain drill is worth?

It depends on it’s condition, but I would think in a range of say $900 to $2000. It has the small seed box and it looks like it doesn’t have a fertilizer so it shouldn’t be too rusty.

Guys take them and cut them in half so a ATV can pull them.

We stole ours for $400;had to buy a few parts but it works well.Plant about any seed,we use for corn, sorgum ect.I wouldn't sell for double.
Towed behind a pickup(slowly) for about ten miles.
Our advantage is our nephews are farm mechanics.

8’ John Deere Van Brunt is at 10’ outside the wheels. Weighs around #1400. What’s the trailer rated for. Take some 12’ plank and makeshift extension over the trailer deck. Strap it down every direction possible and don’t look back.

I was talking slow tow without the trailer - just pulling the grain drill

The trailer carrying capacity is about 1,500 lbs.

When buying a 10' box blade recently, the removable tongue wouldn't budge. Cut it off and loaded the blade on a small gooseneck for the 400-mile trip home.

Wanted to extend the tongue anyway, and 5x5-inch 1/4" wall square tubing fit perfectly over the original round tubing.

Moral of the story; don't be afraid to disassemble things to make them transportable, and there's really and there's really no such thing as too much trailer for a load.

You need to constantly look back.

Check your load after a few minutes of driving, it most likely shifted and an anchored point has loosened.

Check your mirrors every 5 to 10 seconds to maintain situational awareness.

I decided to pass on it. It sold for $300, and was in great condition with all the down tubes and drag chains. Always shedded. Original tires were showing their age though. Somebody got s good deal.
