Whats considered vintage these days? The newest sled I had was a 2001 SRX 700, wish I hadn't sold it, that thing was FAST! I grew up riding late 70's and early 80's Yamahas though. Started with an Artic Cat Kitty Cat when I was like 5 then a Yamaha Sno-Scoot then a Yamaha Bravo 250 in my teens. Doubt I will ever get back into sleds though, they are just way too expensive now days.

I would personally agree with the following

• Antique Snowmobiles: Models from the 1960s or earlier.
• Vintage Snowmobiles: Typically models from the 1970s to early 1990s.
• Classic Snowmobiles: Used to describe models from the late 1980s to early 2000s.

I think riding a snowmobile is as close as you can come to driving a race car in terms acceleration and handling. The problem is, I don't know how to ride them other than all out. The last time I was on my Yamaha SRX triple, the speedometer said 112 and was still climbing, but I didn't dare look down anymore. That's why I don't ride any more. These bones are too old.

In my opinion, this is one of the best utility sleds ever made. Single cylinder long track, It's simple but built by Yamaha who made a tough sled back then.

back then ? they made the bravo until 2012, you can still get brand new ones off the crate… and that’s the best part, you can still get everything single part for it as it remained unchanged… you don’t change perfection.

2012 was 13 years ago. Considering they don't make any sleds now...

Anyway that you look at it though, they were/are still good sleds.

yeah i guess it’s been a stretch now and i guess that’s been a few years ago now but in my home town they still had them a while back… my local dealer would buy a bunch once every few years until they were all sold and operated like that i know the last year of production they bought a bunch …

Think of any auto chase scene in the movies...
That's a tamed down version of a good day out riding.

When I was a kid in the 70s we got a 68 Skidoo that was pretty beat. You’d ride it for a half hour then fix it for a half hour.

I had a 2000 Yamaha Venture but I accidentally hit a big rock hidden in 3 feet of snow we got. Traded what was left on a single 2001 Yamaha Triple 700 single. Was a blast and that sled was pretty fast. I lived at the end of a lake in NH at the time and when that would freeze, you could cross it to get in the Nh snowmobile trail system so you never really needed to trailer it. The lake was its own fun as well.

Now the sleds have like 160 HP which is nuts. I think mine was around 115HP and I got it up over 100.

In the 70's I had an AMF Ski-Daddler and Artic Cat Cheeta
80's a Scorpion Whip and Kawasaki 440 Invader
90's a Polaris Indy 500 EFI and Polaris XLT Special
2000's and my last sled was a Polaris XC 800 with electric start and reverse, sold it a few years ago.
