Good Morning
49° and partly cloudy. That is also the high for today, wind should pick up to nearly 20.
Yesterday I did a lot of outside clean up, got the sprinklers put away and the hoses rolled up and put away. Made a successful Costco run, and figured out what was up with the hot water recirculation. Basically the flow rate was too low, so the boiler thought the thermostatic bypass was closed. Once I increased the speed of the circulator, it worked correctly. I think that I’m going to set it up with a straight timer and lower flow though. Then I can leave it off during the night and tinker with the “on” duration to minimize energy consumption. But it does work like a champ. Instant hot water in the kitchen sink now.
Cleaned out the fireplace, I think that I’m going either modify the grate or not use it, just lay the firewood across the andirons and let it collapse into the bed of coals on the floor where it will be completely consumed. I have never had wood completely consumed on a grate. I always liked building the fire right on the floor of the fireplace to get a good bed of coals.
How about you guys?
Made a nice beef stew for dinner, sat back in the recliner, dozed off in the living room.
Today will start with breakfast with the professor, then back to checking things off the “list”.
