Do you have wheel weights installed on your tractor?

Have you noticed a difference in performance?

Only in the form of liquid in the rear tires in all of the last three tractors. Works well, and all have been used with RFM's for mowing the yard, snow removal and general loader work. I haven't run without it, so can't provide you with a before and after report.

Wheel weights and/or fluid filled rears are kinda unusual, in that poor performance is noticed without them, but with weight the work just gets done.
Weight is king in almost all tractor applications.

I agree with RJ. No substitute for weight! Plus wheel weights on tractors to me is like a cool accessory compared to say putting new wheels on a truck or something!

Depends on what you are trying to do with your tractor determines if you see a difference in performance.

Loader work or work requiring traction you will see a difference.

What are you doing with the machine? I've had wheel weights on a few of my tractors, over the years. None on the current machine, but I have the rears filled with fluid. Wheel weights fall more toward the "sprung weight" side of the equation on a tractor, where your only suspension is tire squish. Fluid-filled tires are the opposite, definitely un-sprung weight, with the added effect of reducing air volume and tire squish. Both have their pros and cons.

But there are some applications (eg. flatlands mowing) where added weight is the last thing you want, so it all comes down to your applications.

Nope..... Just 500+ lbs on 3PH... Wheel weight or filled rear tires are just not enough....

I needed more weight, a lot of what I use the tractor for is the loader, or forks. And the rear wanted to lift before I got to the full lift capacity of the FEL assembly when using the forks. I bought one of the commercial ballast boxes, and sat it down at the ready-mix plant so they could fill it with backhaul, or the next time they did precast. Not sure how much it ended up weighing, but the 3-point groans when it lifts it, and the rear still lifted off the ground with a heavy FEL load.

I bought wheel weights which supposedly fit, only to discover the rear wheels aren’t drilled to mount the weights. (lesson learned: Make sure the rear wheels have mount points for wheel weights, before you buy them.)

Then I decided to add liquid ballast to the rear wheels. It cost about what the weights did, but was less hassle than buying new rear wheels, or drilling the ones I have. In retrospect, if the liquid ballast folks had listed the dealer location which did the install when I was first looking into it, I would have gone with the liquid, rather than order the wheel weights. When I first looked into it, the nearest installer was about three-hours away, over the Continental Divide. The newer online listing had a dealership an hour away.

What's keeping the JD in the bucket? Doctored photo, or something we can't see?

I have about 900 lb. of fluid in my rear tires and put another 1500 lb. on my 3ph when making heavy lifts. Did that yesterday for lifting a 1200 lb. pallet of seed and fertilizer out of the back of my truck on uneven ground.
