72 going to 95. Probably storms this pm...we need the rain, too, Buppies. Funny how spotty the rain has been...the "official" weather station at the international airport is over8 inches above normal for the year...we're about 8 inches below normal.

I changed the oil in my truck yesterday...got a late start, and it was extremely hot, but I had a shade tree...got me thinking that next time I need to change it will likely be the extreme cold of January or February. Not sure but think I like the hot better...seems the parts and the oil cooperates better.

Morning all!
60 going to 73 with humidity on the rise. Spent most of the day outside doing different projects. Think that will be today also.
Did manage to get in the shop for a bit and glue up some wood for the next project. Maybe later tonight.
Cousin has Friday off so who knows what we might start working on. Between the both of us we always find something.
Glad the camper was a simple repair Drew.
Off to the coffee pot for more!
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Good morning, the low here is 48 and going to a high of 72°F. Wind ENE 11 mph. Sunny.
The high temps are all over the map this week, but at least still above freezing. :)

Maybe I will go to the dump today. Maybe I wont.
Maybe I will install the light today. Maybe I wont.

Have a safe day all

on my second cup of coffee and feeling human again.
whole grain muffin in toaster, plus a small dish of cut fruit and
a single hard boiled egg.
And no sugar added Polamer cherry "spreadable fruit" on the muffin.

I'm really trying to make my Saturday morning Wegovy weigh in work...
and I remembered the scales...

this is the transfer switch that someone incompetently installed.
Furrion makes one, thirty bucks more expensive, if I was buying a used rv, I think I would like to see a name brand.
One with a proper connection panel in the rear that doesn't require two wires butted together. When I saw that solid power cable wrapped with a lighter gauge of stranded, held together with a charred plastic twist nut, I just knew this totally failed the sniff test. Now if they had soldered it together, fine, and finish it nicely. This was a 2019 build, pre covid I think.
This switch may be fine, could have been installed properly to avoid this entirely. Instead I had a black charred mess under my bed.
that surely is not good.

and for an ah-hah moment, remember when I said my campground breaker popped twice and I had to turn off the electric hot water heater?
when I turned on the hot water heater that new higher load did in what was left of those two loose wires touching each other, and a toaster was born.

don't understand why I didn't smell it. We did only after we opened the box. I guess sealed pretty well but usually that stink gets around

I'd like to find a US made automatic transfer switch, wonder if it even exists for this type of application. 30amp. would be better if choice of automatic and manual

maybe one of you EE's could recommend one

we learn something new every day

73 outside this AM, heading to mid 90's. Very Humid. Very Humid. Yep.

Well the good news is the Milk House is now a fully functional living space. We have water. The hookups went well. Unfortunately neither the plumber or I planned for venting the pump area. We needed a pump to get stuff to the septic. So outside the building, I have a vent pump line. I don't like it and will probably tear it off and reroute it to go into a wall and out somewhere, in the far future.

The SO is ecstatic, it really pops and is just a nice little layout. She needs to replace a spigot on the kitchenette sink as it is a little large for the sink. No big deal. I called her out on the "design" flaw. Today is cleanup day, and I need to build a cabinet around the water heater assembly. I also need to move or rework two electrical outlets as they are an inch or so intruding on a mirror. Some final wall work is in order and paint. That's it. I think we have 30 months of labor into this project. Yikes, I will have to check. I don't think I would make it as a general contractor with that type of project completion timeline.

I did not get to grasses yesterday. I spent what free time I had going through various coin collections. Yesterday was penny wheatback identification day. I managed to find some keepers. Fortunately they may actually pay for my time spend examining them. I have a lot more to do. A lot more.

Hope all have a great day today. Be safe.

Good Morning
72° with 90% RH this morning. High of 80 forecast with a gentle breeze, not a bad day to work outside.

Yesterday was another busy day with 4 different contractors working around each other, and not getting in each others way. Painters finished the ceilings and won’t be back for a week or so to do the walls. The trim lumber hasn’t been delivered yet, so they can’t stain it. Tile is progressing in the bathroom. A lot of cuts in the shower to make the subtle pitch to the drain. Masons are working on the stone facing outside.

I won’t get involved in anything much here today, I’ve got to leave for the airport at 10 so I can make a half hour flight to New Haven to sit there until 5. My drive is an hour each for comparison.

Drew, glad they found issue. Not fun sleeping on toaster.
When you go back down to I68 take a drive on same road to coopers rock. It’s not far.

Good morning.
Lots more dew now.

For many years it was generally coincided up here that after Labor Day it was hard to get hay dried enough for baling. Between the moisture in the ground and the heavy dews at night it took an unusual spell of weather to get dry hay from now on this year.
The only exception was first cutting hay that was full of mature dry matter with a good bit of regrowth in the bottom.
