2022 Bronco sport review

But most vehicles today dont have keys they have pieces of luggage they call fobs that constantly get their buttons pushed by other items in my pockets.
Rant over

Couldn't agree more! HATE those things! Piece of luggage is correct...they are huge compared to a key.

AND...its also made the vehicles that use them very easy to steal.

Not me, I don't want to jinx the Ford I have, besides, I think they make good products, including the Bronco sport :) I just question their marketing ideas.
We needed a new suv to replace our dated worn out one. Own a 19 ranger and really like it that has 50,000 miles on it today. Test drove all the Bronco's and other suvs. Liked the sport the best and got one. My spouse loves it no matter what marketing program ford uses.

I like the way you think. I would buy one in spite of the name. Of course, I liked your old Element too, so....

"I really don't think anyone that buys a "Bronco Sport" (which could have just as easily been called the Marmoset 5000 or whatever) is really interested in putting forth an image." Runner
completely agree. "soy boy image" is just an opinion of someone else.
although i don't know much about the new Bronco Sport, glad to see the OP's family enthusiasm for the new vehicle, & enjoy the ride

It’s funny when you remember the old Bronco. Rough & tough. Rugged, ready for some serious hard play.
I agree, they should have named the Bronco Sport something else.

Yesterday we came home traveling 60 to 70mph with some little town driving mixed in and got 24.8 mpg.

The retailer who sold us the auto we are not happy with because of the FOB shortage but this Bronco itself we are very, very happy with. (y) Great fuel mileage and operator comfort.

It seems like only 1 key makes it with a used vehicle more often than not. I got lucky and my last one came with 2 but even the dealer I got it from was surprised.

Ordered those plastic, stick on window shades that allow you to leave windows cracked opened. We do this on all our vehicles.

Just passing on what my BIL told me and he knows being one of the design engineers on that platform. Myself, I have no desire to own one, only way I would would be the full sized edition and they are way out of my realm of cost versus value anyway. I figure my wife's Suburban LTZ (off lease as well) will suffice for us for a long time. Don't get good fuel mileage but then it's a tank anyway and I don't fuel it, she does. Here lately with fuel prices, it's sets her back almost a C note to fill it up.... and it's getting worse, not better. On the other hand, my Focus RS takes about 11 gallons from dead empty and gets about 40 mpg and being the cheapskate I am, that works for me. Least Fords figured out than a pilot injector in the intake tract eliminates the inherent GDI issues, that is, a dry intake tract will build carbon deposits around the intake valve causing internal engine issues if not cleaned regularly. I use Sea Foam cleaner at every oil change, injected directly into the intake tract post MAF sensor. It works just fine actually.
I'm surprised Ford has not had a lawsuit against them with there oil change intervals they recommend. The turbos on the ecoboost motors need clean oil for them. Going over that can be hard on them keeping them cool I heard. Did not know about camshaft failure. Good to know.

Did they fix the carbon deposits on the valves for the direct injected engines? I think on the pick ups they did combination of direct and port injection on them to combat that. I wonder if it works? Especially on the ecoboosts with the dirty PVC gases being recirculated back into the intake.

We change all our Fords engine oil at about 5k intervals as per our mechanics suggestions. No problem.

Still looks like a Ford Escape with different sheet metal and no full frame to me. I see them all the time on the road and I'm still under impressed. Glad you are happy with it however. Me, I'd never own one, off lease or used makes no diff to me.

They are not an HD pickup so the "full frame" is not really a big deal. They are a nice mid-sized SUV that gets reasonable mileage and gets people to where they need to go. We have a HD truck and it is great for some things, doing a 500-mile road trip or a daily commute to work for my wife is not one of them. I can take our non-full frame SUV and get where I am going using ½ the fuel the pickup does and even park in a place my truck would not easily fit.
