These are a much better way to torque things with an impact gun.

Yes a torque wrench is preferred but in my case checking the setting on the Milwaukee impact with a torque wrench found one of the settings to correspond to the required torque. I think there are 5 settings for torque on the impact and using that approach is convenient

Another mass shooting.... this one in our state of NM....
targeted innocent people just driving by or standing in their yard. A real shame. An 18 y/o troubled kid was the shooter. 3 deaths and nine others injured, including 2 LEOs.
You risk the wrath from talking about shootings

Morning all, 37 going up to 66 and sunny.
Flowers seem ok, will check veggies later.

FrankenMower lives 🚜. Parts from two decks, lots of grease and back to mowing the lawn. Got a squeak somewhere, need to find and grease or oil. Probably time to change the oil/filter too. I sharpen blades by taking deck off and using grinder.

Son's band coming over later for practice, might be a good time to finish mowing and get the weed wacker out

Drew-much appreciated on the offer. So great to see people helping each other on this site, like a big extended family.

Be well,

I also have torque sticks for the impact guns but they add too much length to be able to get underneath the mower. Using the torque wrench it is not enough to block the blades from rotating with a piece of 2x4 because the spindles will turn and need to be held in place by jamming the drive shaft for the middle one and put a wrench on the outside pulleys to prevent turning. Using the impact saves time and effort but it needs to be lifted high enough to allow for clearance to do it

I like the idea of a known setting on the impact wrench. maybe a dab of red nail polish or red marker.
but I ordered a set of Craftsman made in US torque sticks anyway. I want to do all the wheel nuts on my rv and trailer.
The proper torque spec for John Deere mower blades is 60-70 ft. -lbs.
yet another source swears it's 50 pounds

15-16 inch wheel lugs apparently in 90-100 ft pound range. Using 100 pound torque limiter would make that easy.
Of course they are likely over tightened now, but better to check

51°. Still got buckets over the cantaloupes, unless wife got them already.
Slept in, sore from yesterdays workout.

I did torque the disc to rim bolts on my tractor yesterday, they were all ok.
I have never torqued blade bolts, but after having the BX ones loosen on me the other day, guess I better. Unfortunately the BX manual I have doesn’t cover the mower deck, so no idea what that would be.

Good. morning! 65˚F heading to the mid 80s, cloudless sky, Southerly breeze.

Cedarciding at the park went better than expected yesterday with cooler temps of 73˚ to 85˚, and with 10 people, 3 with chainsaws, many oaks were freed. In the 4 intense hours of cutting my chainsaw used 3 tanks of fuel and stayed way ahead of the haulers. The replaced fuel line stayed put and it started right up every time. I use canned 95 octane premixed 50to1 fuel with a bit of SeaFoam, works great.

The yard needed mowing again after last weeks rains (after only 5 days) and I did that also. May finish harvesting the potatoes later.

This would have been a great day to load up the ZT and take it to the lot and mow. But I would have had to be half way there by now, so looks like a Costco run instead

Thinking about a shed at the lot to keep one of the small tractors in, probably the BX. When I look at shed prices I think I can build one for 1/4 the cost. So considering building it in sections here, and hauling down on trailer to do final assembly there. It’s only time and money.

Good morning, the low was 40 and going to a high of 61°F. Wind SSW 5 to 10 mph. Sunny! I can handle that. Rain tomorrow and the next day.

Dump and town run today. Get some grass seed and 1/8" drill bits.

The blade bolts on my Country Clipper Z turn require 100 ft lbs of torque. Good thing I have 2 torque wrenches.

Time to check my lottery numbers and get on with my day.

Have a safe day all

49 going to 71...very nice.

m70, sorry you got that zero turn stuck. I did the same thing a couple of years ago, and had to use the tractor FEL to lift it up and put a board under the tire. I'm starting afund raiser to get you a new hat, too. 😁

LS, beautiful job on your landscaping projects.

Thanks for the birthday wishes for my mom. She still lives alone, drives, and is doing great.

My truck turned 7yo last week, so was time for its annual state inspection. The dealer still performs them free (saves $20) and doesn't try to scam you on fixes. Only once have they found anything...windshield wipers...and they were bad...I had already bought replacements but had forgotten to swap them.

Always fun to go so I can check out the new inventory...still not a lot, but they had some new hybrid/V6 twin turbo Tundras...very nice but they were priced in the upper 60s...one was $70.2K. Well over 20K more than my top model Tundra bought 6 years ago.

Saw a couple of their new Crown sedans, and the new all-electric bZ4x...both looked great, but again, sticker shock. They had no new Camry, Corolla, or RAV4s in stock, only one 4Runner, and one Sequoia.
Appreciate your offer to fund raise for a new hat
