I got a grain drill, but don’t know what manufacturer or model number. It’s 8‘ wide with 12 drops to single disc openers.

The previous owner thought it was a IH number 5, I didn’t find any pictures that match my drill.

There is NOT decal inside the grain tanks/bins.

Here’s a couple of pictures of the grain tank.

Here’s a couple McCormick M listing. The tank seems bigger, but that maybe just a function of it being a wider drill.

I saw those too. The hitch configuration was more of what I was looking at to compare. Yours has the back-to-back angle tongue like the smaller M, or perhaps a #10

Could an old drill like this be converted to use a hydraulic cylinder to lift the discs rather than the old mechanical setup?

I put a tape measure on it and it doesn’t seem to be 8’wide.

It has 12 drops spaced 7” apart and the discs (single disc) are 81" outside to outside.

The seed box is 7'3" wide.

Question what width is this McCormick M drill considered?

Anyone know what wheels will work on a McCormick M drill that has rubber tires aka low wheel.

The part number in my manual is 453 631 R91 for 15” wheels and 16 632 W for 16” wheels.

They are 8 bolt wheels and the center hole a bit less than 5.25” in diameter.

Well after welding the area around the valve stem on the one wheel I have a working McCormick M grain drill. I planted 2.5 acres of rye with it today.

Note 225/75r15 tires are too wide as they rub on the drive end of the drill. It had 215s on it but couldn’t find any of them.

After finally using my McCormick M grain drill and the factory power lift works great I don’t think I’ll be switching it to hydraulic lift.

I do need to look at replacing the roller wheel bearings as it has plenty of play.

Glad to see its working for you.
