Gifford...
Just hope they don't want to do a stress test...
With my bad leg, I can't run on a treadmill, so I get adrenalin...that really sucks

she, her, hers

At the risk of elevating BP, I got another email today with this label.
Yes ma'am I understand you are a she.

I really, really, really want to sign mine (me).
I think it sends a very different message.
Accept me for what I am, regardless.
Good people come in all sizes and shapes.
But I can't. It would create howls of protest.

And it's not about popping false balloons either.
This is called created alliances. Seems to be the new thing.
Just need tolerance to make this all moot.

I can't even say attagirl any more. Except to a really little girl.
Now if you said attagirl to your wife, wouldn't she smile?

I still like being called Hun by the diner waitress.

I go with the flow. Bothers me not to be "corrected", whatever you want to be labeled, called or addressed, I am ok with it.

All about individual choice. And sheep.

Good Morning!!!! 74F @ 5:15AM. Partly cloudy skies. High around 100F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
Temps might drop into the low 90s by next weekend, but this week and weekend will be unseasonably warm (100F+).

I've seen drawings of those special bolts, Ted, but that's the first time I've seen a photo. Someone has too much time on their hands...

Glad you figured out the right therapy for the nightmare tree, Rich. That would work out here, too, but only in wet weather, if we ever get any again...

That's a good summary, Drew. But how come it's OK for the waitress to say "hun" and "sugar," but a man can't say "darlin'" back? I dated a gal a long time ago that dressed like a man, cut her hair like a man, and walked like a man. I remember the time a clerk called her mister, and how she complained. Boy did I get in trouble when I pointed out how her appearance made it difficult for others to correctly identify her gender...

I noticed yesterday that the light on the well pump controller finally turned green, signalling that the tank on top of the hill was full. Just in time for the 4th of July, and all the idiots that insist on playing with fireworks in the middle of a drought.

It was more than warm in the garage yesterday, but I still managed to get a new pair of shoes on the big touring bike. The tire tools were right in front of the back sliding door, so there was s strong breeze to carry away the sweat. The rear tire only took half an ounce to balance, the front didn't take any. Another reason I like Michelin tires. Today I'll drain the gas out of it and transfer it to the red bike, and get that ready for a trip south. Meeting friends at a little lodge outside Kernville, probably play in the river a bit to stay cool.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

It is 63F and raining. It hit the mid 80s yesterday but it wasn't too bad because we were under a lot of cloud cover. I got the farm lawn mowed. It is starting to turn brown in places. The corn was looking dry. I tried the zero turn on the farm lane. The lane is too bumpy for comfort even though the simplicity has suspension.

The strawberries at the local farm stand are about over. It seemed like a short season. We have red raspberries coming in nicely. Our blueberries are starting to turn blue. It is tempting to start picking but they are better if you let them ripen a couple of days. We had our first zucchini with dinner last night.

Last night was the first time that I saw a number of people keeping the speed limit on the ride home. Maybe they noticed the price of gas.

Enjoy the summer.

Chris

65°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 92° today.

Went out to check on the chickens yesterday evening right about sunset, and saw a family of skunks waddling their way over to the back corner of the barn, and under they went. Wife said she thought she saw two the other day. There were five last night. One is mostly white. Turns out, that's exactly five too many skunks for our barn. Looks like I've added another task to the weekend list. Got them on video, but can't figure how to load that here without it being somewhere else first. So, here's a grainy screen capture of them on the run along the pasture fence.

Drew, I call my Wife a "silly girl" all the time. She doesn't seem offended at all.
Honestly, if someone gets "offended" by me saying something that's visually obvious, well, that's their burden to carry.
You can call me anything you want. I'll probably just laugh. It's not possible to offend me. I refuse to give people that kind of power over me.

That they are following one another is a good sign. You may be able to trap the younger ones all at the same time.

Good luck!

Avon ladies coming to visit.

   / Good morning!!!! #152,113
Good morning to all! Low was 56°, going up to 79°. a few more sprinkles last evening, but nothing heavy. Just a stray T-storm possible for today. No further accumulation in the gauge.... I'll call it

Somebody turned on a super bright spotlight this morning......oops.. that's the sun... haven't seen it for a few days. At least the ground will get warmed up, maybe triggering one of the 'stray' storms. Tomorrow should be much of the same.

Buppies, nice to hear the Mrs. is slowly getting better.

Hope we hear from Toppop, hope he's getting better.....

Roy, good luck at cardiologist. Fingers crossed for no stress test needed.

PJ, NOT something that I would like to see going under the barn.... gonna be tricky solution for sure!

Thomas, hope the wildlife show was better last evening.... who showed up for the program? Funny about the "Avon ladies" coming....

Today's agenda has a choice.... take string trimmer for a walk or work on the backyard picket fence.... I think the trimmer might win out, being the ground is still moist... that will cut down on the dust cloud from trimming.

Yesterday, I made a quick local trip to the PO to mail a package, then a stop at Walmart for a few things.... now I'm getting as bad as RS... picked up a couple of shrubs. One 'fire and ice' hydrangea, and one 'little princess' spirea. I just couldn't resist the temptations.....

Everyone have a great day!

Good Morning.
It’s 65 and won’t make 70. Light rain started last night, total is .47 inch so far. Davis station is reporting rain properly, Tempest is pretty close.

Yesterday was daughter’s birthday, she came by and we went out to breakfast.
When we got back, I put the 3Pt mower on the tractor and mowed inside all the small pastures. I managed to pick up a piece of 4x6 fence wire that was laying in the tall grass. Boy did that make the mower shake, I thought something grenaded. About 15 aggravating minutes with bolt cutters and fence pliers got it running smooth again, and have a basketball sized wire sculpture as a souvenir.
Next was to go along all the fence lines with the Lazer. Lastly was to take the string trimmer for a walk around the pasture fences. I have thousands of feet of pasture fence, so it would be a significant undertaking to do it all. I started along the lane and walking paths. I was pretty impressed with how much I accomplished with one battery change. I tried the Makita out of curiosity, fully expecting it would be hopeless, and I’d have to pull out the big gun, a 4 stroke Honda trimmer, but I’m not sure now. I’ll try the Honda to compare the production, but I really like how light the Makita is.
In the process of clearing the fence line, I discovered that I had some repairs to make.
So headed back to the shop, loaded some tools into the carryall and went off on that mission. After that it was time to call it a day.

....

My area got pounded, pounded again yesterday with storms. Half the county is without power. Hundreds of trees down and lots of roads are impassable as crews are working to remove them. Seems our weather people have now caught on to the new classifications of thunderstorms. The ones yesterday were classified as "destructive".

....
The pics are rolling in now from my area. 1/3 county still without power.
