The fellow or runs the school shop and lets us in, is nursing an injury and doesn't want to be in the shop. So I went back to my real job and might not get back in there until Monday......:(

I was in the school shop one day this week and got much done, but no pics. School starts back up on Monday and I'll be there and tentatively get in completed enough for a test run new week sometime. Our forecast is pretty white.

As promised, I was in school today and some work was done on this implement.

The cutting frames are made from 2x3x1/4 angles and will have cutting teeth mounted on them.

This is the mian frame which was painted and ready to go out the door. Lots of plastic needs to be mounted which will take time before a test run can be made..

Late today, this frame was moved into the paint booth. This holds the harrow teeth and might be done , nonetheless, it will get painted on Tuesday.

I've got the harrow frame and main frame in my work shop now to get plastic and various parts mounted. Might even get that portion tested today. No actuators involved. :)

A short video of it in action would be nice.

I moved into a shop at my work place and got the drag assembled enough to give it a test run Saturday morning. Its the harrow frame and teeth of course that will be tested..

Shoes covered with 3/8 HDPE.

In this pic you can see the skags were installed.

Looks great, Arly!
Denise, did you note the closer tooth positions were used?

We are planning to head out this am for a test run, but I might have to roll in advance. We have been receiving normal snow, which is a few inches per day. So we're having a near normal winter so far.

No videos will be taken. Sorry that we don't know how to do them.

As seen on our trails today while doing implement testing 1,2 and 3.

1st pass, you see the trails are rough. TYou can see two 25lbs weights we added to the pan. It needed them!

This is a live shot, hence the blurring.

That looks good.

Yes I did. That ought to scratch it up pretty well.
Well done!

I've been showing Joleen your snow pictures and she likes them.

How does it pull?

How does it pull?
It pulled well, but I've built and used this design in the past so that was expected. What did surprise me was I made 4 passes on trails to level and firm them up but during the 3 and 4th pass, (the trail is twice as wide as the drag so passes weren't really on top of each other) the torque it took to pull it had become quite high. I barley made it up some hills as the Bosses tracks spun! What was happening was the harrow teeth were cutting deeper with each subsequent passes and became harder to pull and without an actuator to hold them up, I couldn't stop that from happening. Normally we lift the teeth when you have a tight corner so the snow carried within the machine goes out which is much help.

What are the LxW dimensions and Weight?

Hey Arly,
(or anybody)
What do you know about fat bike grooming on trails?

I am only asking for the good of the order. I know others have been watching this thread and considering their own builds. I just thought it might be good to know the basics of what you have there. LxW and Weight for example.

The frame is 5ft wide plus wings, so with them, it will be around 7ft. Its close to 8ft long without hitch. Weight I'm not sure, it might be 125lbs but its also unfinished. Weight is not all that important for snow implements.
