Why buy a Deere CUT?

   / Why buy a Deere CUT? #41
I'm in the market for a new tractor ~35HP. So, I've been comparing tractor HP, loader lift capacity, tractor weight and price. From there, it boils down to little nuances, like quick attach buckets, 3 range hydro trannies, etc, which the Deere also does not have (in the models I am looking at). From everything I can see, the Deere, lets say the 3038E, is the least tractor for the most money in all categories.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing Deere. I'm posting here to get insight from Deere owners what drives their decision to get a Deere.
Deere is no better than the rest now days. Nothing makes them stand out from the crowd. Variable cam timing has been fun to deal with. He finally drug that tractor out of the way and got another one. An old John deere will out last any new one they make.

Deere is no longer putting turning brakes on its smaller hp CUTs. So, I'm looking at a B2301 probably next tractor.

The large garden tractors like the x700 series are great mowers. With AWS, diesel, and 4x4 as options, and all the attachments that can go on them, make them a good choice. My wife has one along with many of my neighbors. They are made locally too.

I bought my 2013 3032E brand new in January 2014. Not one single issue in almost 8 years. I'm 6' 240 and haven't broken anything getting on or off of the tractor. Plastic fenders and such are pretty standard on a tractor this size. Did I mention not one problem in almost 8 years and 200 hours of use? I looked at everything and drove several and just like the JD a lot. It has been a fantastic machine. I'm even on the original battery.

I've been looking some at the used market and can find, pretty reliably, newish used Deere 3038e and 3032e models. These are priced significantly lower than the new price. Makes them much more competitive with brand new offerings from Kioti which is currently my target for a brand new tractor. I am very hesitant to buy used, but United Ag who sells Deere in my area has a pretty big dealer web and that makes me feel comfortable buying used from them. We will see - I am not pulling the trigger any sooner than the end of the year and possible a little longer than that.

Thanks for all your input. If anyone has experience, comments or opinions on the 3032e or 3038e, I would be interested in reading them. Curious how significant a move from the 3032e to the 3038e would be. I plan mainly to use the tractor for clearing brush with a grapple and shredder. My property is heavily wooded, so I will not be mowing big grass fields. There is some slope, but not too steep as the soil is pretty much sand.
I see some time has passed. But you have just found a reason to buy green. If you can find a JD, late model, used, looking good, low hour that fits your needs at a good dealer you trust for a sig. lower cost, you just found the reasons to buy green. In these times, not many can say all these things.

I have an orange tractor. But I also have nothing again Green. But the dealer here had not interest is selling a 50 hp tractor. Wouldn't even say hello. And that was in 2017, before all the shortage stuff. They were immediately removed from the shopping list. A good dealer goes a long way to making a tractor worth while.

In the 80's and 90's when I looked at a Deere tractor, I saw something special, more rugged, better built, just in a class by itself, these days it seems they couldn't care less what people think of there SCUT's or CUT's, I think there into selling monster tractors for huge money, big choppers etc. I looked at a 2025R 24.7 engine HP 17.2 PTO HP, no 3 range hydro, my tiny 22.5 hp Massey has 18.8 HP at the PTO.. IMO Deere doesn't care about the small tractor market, they really don't need it anyway..
I couldn't agree with you more. They are just reckless with the way they are conducting business. I have seen it in the way they overprice their CUTS to the way they mistreat their customers.

My exact same experience with them.

It's just the green paint. Because under that green paint is a cheap machine. They are built just like the rest. Look at an old one then look at a new one. I'd take one of them old ones with the fuel tank in front of the radiator any day. You can't run fast enough to give me one with a plastic fuel tank behind the seat.

I by Deere simply because I want to be able to get parts and repairs in 15 years from now. What I do see is everybody looking for 80s and 90s machines because of the DEF issue.
