I have an opportunity to pick up an excellent condition Woods BB60 for $1400. The EA 60" cutter I had planned on buying is more $$. Anybody got knowledge that will push me one way or the other? The Woods is green and my tractor is orange, is one downside😉

I bought a used BB72 for $800, but it had output shaft slop and seal out. New bearings and seals fixed it. I think it was ran with out gear lube.
I expected the Woods quick change blade system. It came with standard pins and nuts. That was the only down side for me. I was looking for BB720 in the $2K range when I found this one.

I paid $1900 for a Yanmar 72” rotary cutter last spring (YRC720 I think is the model #). It’s almost exactly the same as the BB 72” cutter…..except black. Nice mower and about $500 less than the orange one. Plus I like the way black and green look together😉.

Which is heavier, gearbox HP and cutting capability? Those are the three things I look at. Slip joint vs shear bolt is another one.

I have an ea 60. I can’t speak for the bb but the ea is a beast. My particular cutter was damaged in shipping and when I contacted ea the parts went out the same day no question asked and they credited me for my time to install the new parts I would recommend ea to anyone who wants a quality American made product

A two digit Brush Bull won't be a beast. It's the lightest duty of the series.
The BB is light duty. If you want heavy duty get a Brown 415 but it will be just under $3000 with chain guards and back ordered until Spring

The woods is 748 pounds and 65hp gearbox.

The EA is 665 pounds and 45hp gearbox.

You can get parts for a woods just about everywhere. Can the same be said for the EA?

If you are looking at lighter duty cutters it's pointless to mention the handful for $3000 and 1500 pound heavy duty cutters designed to run over 4" stuff. So we won't go there.

Also worth asking....what tractor are you running this behind?

I doubt you will be disappointed with either. I was in the same shape as you a couple years ago. I found an almost new Woods at a discount and went with it. It is my7th cutter and I would say it is the best.

My tractor is small LX2610. I have owned a few tractors, but never a cutter. The Woods is still listed, but I offered $1300 and the guy wouldn't budge. I would likely never try to cut anything larger than a 1" sapling. Larger than that I would pull out. I'm going to take a skid steer and brush cutter through my back 4 acres of woods, and keep thinned put with whatever cutter I buy.

He has got a fair price on it if it is indeed excellent condition. You are either gonna pay more for a new cutter, or less for something in worse shape.
