Yep, a loaded UPS truck with skinny 95psi tires delivering a bottle of shampoo does more road damage than a car getting it from local drug store.
We better hurry up and tax them, too.

They’re hauling a lot more than a bottle of shampoo. How much road damage and more emissions would result if you drove 1 car per every package on the truck?

The delivery vehicles are paying fuel tax, registration fees, and are delivering items that are taxed. The neighbors running farm equipment every day weigh more, like the huge manure wagon and feed wagon.
Point was that if everyone would stop having heavy, polluting, road and driveway damaging trucks deliver almost everything instead of maybe making what used to be called a “shopping list” and take your smaller, lighter less damaging car to get them, our roads would fare better.
Its pretty obvious you have an issue with your neighbor farmer and the odor from the manure wagon. I have neighbors like you. They think they’re better than us and we deserve nothing because we get “subsidies”

No, you are wrong. They are great neighbors and I don't have a problem with what they haul. I could not ask for a better bunch of guys. They treat other people like they want to be treated which is what any of us would want. It doesn't change the fact that they drive very large pieces of equipment on the road and who funds the roads.

roads are funded from numerous sources
gasoline tax, tolls, vehicle registrations are just a few
So if your gripe is farmers drive equipment on roads and you think they should pay, what’s your solution? How do you figure out the weight of each piece? Miles driven? PSI/tire?
It’s a rabbit hole.
Pick on someone else with a lot more money

I buy many gallons of gas to mow, ride ATV’s and dirt bikes each year. I don’t mow the roads. My mower and ATV’s and dirt bikes have never seen the road.

So, my federal and state mowing/ATV/dirt bike gas taxes can be used to allow my farmer friend to cross the state highway to get to his fields.

By the way, he once owned the land that was taken by the state to build the road dissecting his fields. City folks wanted the road to shorten a popular commute. Many many city folks v a small farmer and his land. Not even a contest.

If anyone ever really experienced what a family farmer does day in and day out, maybe farmers would be appreciated a tad more in society.

Like any minority group, lack of knowledge and understanding leads to prejudices and preconceived opinions about farmers.

I agree 100%. But... farmers sure work the system.

All they do is complain about how hard they have it. Nobody is making anyone farm. If it’s so bad go do something else.

Washington car license used to be value based. Then it was limited to $30. So the state keeps adding fees.

Here's one of my recent total cost for a 2006 Jeep Liberty.

Which is a bit cheaper than what it costs me to register my '06 Grand Cherokee.
Curiously, what is the "technology" in the license plate you're paying a surcharge for?
