The day the music died.

A little before my time, but Jimmie Rodgers died last week. I do remember his song "Honeycomb" still playing on the radio during the '60s.

Mary Wilson, Supremes

RIP
Oh no... just saw this. I met her by happenstance at a luxury hotel top floor lounge in Tokyo 10 to 15years ago. I was sitting at the bar alone and she struck up a conversation. We were the only two at the bar. Her body guard didn't like it but she waved him away. We spent over an hour just chatting on random things on life. I didn't know who she was until she said she was performing solo 'here'. Then I took note of the little advertisement card in the clear plastic stand a couple feet on the other side of me.

I loved the fact that she was so down to earth and approached a mere mortal just for some innocent conversation out the 'blue'. She was a pleasure to speak with but she seemed a bit sad and lonely. Later I read her bio and learned that she lost her son in a car accident... same as my wife. I wish I would have known that then.

RIP Mary.
