Sure... If you turn them up. In stock form a 5.9 won't out pull anything, gutless dog of an engine. Sounds cool while you're being passed by everything else on the road though.

Yup, I forgot the disclaimer, none of my 5.9's are stock:D However, I will say this: In 1990 when I installed the 180/457 (5.9) in my Ford dually there was not another stock pickup at that time with 457 tq. Then when I turned it up, 260/700, I pretty much had free rein of the hammer lane. Now that truck stays in the slow lane....

When you have to use extremes for an example, I will too...besides, 15k is far outside the ecoboost rating.

Why not use a DD15?

That's the thing with extremes...we can one up each other all day.

Your right, the CGI came out in 2011 with the 6.7 powerstroke. A lot of tech from that motor flowed over to the 3.5 ecoboost. But the purpose of the 3.5 and 6.7 are different, agree?

Thats why Im coming back at you a little hard. The 6.7L Cummins is a medium duty diesel truck engine rating.

You can get a GCWR of 40,000lbs with a 6.7L in a RAM 2500. If you put an ecoboost mill under the hood, it would be toast after a couple thousand miles with those loads. Now I know the ecoboost is an F-150 engine, but they really arent comparable in the truck world. Im sorry, theres just no way.

Would you rather constantly or routinely pull a 10,000lb trailer (I believe thats in the weight range of an F-150) with an ecoboost engine, or a 6.7L Cummins?
Please answer that question, then I will know how serious of a truck person you are.

I'd take a 5.9L Cummins over any gas engine in production today. Even with a low power rating, it can be cheaply and easily unleashed into a great puller. With a B rating far longer than anything gas out today, great fuel economy and longevity well into the 250-500K range.....easy decision. Thats comparing a 30+ year old diesel to the newest turbocharged gas-hog gasser.

Im not talking about a chassis...WE were comparing ENGINES. I didnt say the ecoboost wouldnt do it....;)

Give you one more chance, if you had to pull 10,000lbs around constantly, which engine would you pick, a Ford ecoboost or a 6.7L Cummins? :confused3:

Your question is meant to steer in only one direction by asking a question that only looks at one aspect of a larger question. However the question about an engine alone is only looking at one side of the equation while ignoring the other elephant in the room. Most truck guys will select a truck based upon a chassis first and engine second. This isn't my first rodeo about baited questions.

I'm pretty comfortable with my answer.
