Here in KY, we do not have to register or plate a trailer if not going over state lines. One less yearly expense for me.

We have two trailer registration classifications; under 2000lbs, and 2000lbs +. As some doy else mentioned the tow vehicle must also be registered for the entire load, except that campers are exempt.
They don't generally bother non commercial drivers for some reason and those can be some of the scariest on the road
