Stockpiling diesel

Yeah. I have been made only terribly aware of that as of late. Good thing, I am almost at an age of not caring, and maybe most importantly, have no children.

Short of violence to another. My views on what I am "allowed" to do has always depended more on my own notion of self preservation. Politicians (I pay to keep them alive) were never meant to do anything else than serve me. Not dictate to me.

I should have said fuel. Maybe you thought I meant food. I cannot, due to zoning and other regulations, store as much fuel as I want.

It has often alarmed me to smell Diesel near tanks. Not just for the environmental aspects ( plus a few hundred thousand dollars for clean up costs if you want to sell your property) but the lost fuel. A drip every second adds up fast.

HINT: Move your fuel tanks prior to selling.

The politicians will joyously tell you how much fuel they will allow you to store!

Most of whom think food comes from the supermarket! Lol

Food doesn't come from the supermarket?

Years ago we took our daughter on a tour of a dairy farm. She was 3-4 years old and had a blast, but refused to drink the milk they sold there or even have some ice cream from the little shop. All dairy had to come from the grocery store!

I am an even smaller time user of diesel so buying it 5 gallons at a time is no problem. As you ponder solutions to your problem don't forget to factor in the weight of diesel, about 7 pounds a gallon. If you are going to town and filing 55 gallons drums how are you going to load and unload 350 pounds safely. If you are going for a larger home storage tank, what is the minimum that someone will deliver to you?

A fool (these days) would only have enough food in their freezer or pantry for a few weeks. Just sayin.

Feel free to call me a fool as long as you don't do it on your cell phone waiting in line for a box of food...... :D

I have a 275 gal tank, and I put in some BioKleen (can get online or most auto parts stores) to add to the storage tank to prevent bacteria growth which will cause you all kinds of problems if it gets in your tractor.

No issues with storage in my Overhead tanks going on 20 years.I get them topped twice per year.

For theft potential, maybe should be marked as gas in the green one, and diesel in the red:laughing:.....right?

Best of all, they work without power of any kind.

That is exactly what I did. Both are under lock and key.Always have to remind the fuel delivery guy though which is which.

Yes sir no power.Being a retired electric lineman I first seen first hand how quick people get crazy when they don"t have power for 7-10 days.

Exactly.

As far as theft, mine are way up my driveway fronted with a gate, and well within rifle range of my house.
