I started out wanting a single axel 7,000 pound to go behind my van to haul trash and ended up with this. View attachment 684815

Nice trailer, I just have my little off road trailer for sand and dirt etc.. I looked at dump trailers but have 4 now 2 flat 1 horse 1 small dump so the wife said no and I would only use it a couple of times a year so I just have material hauled in now when I need it....

Is that a 14k? How do you like the van for towing? I don't see them used much.

It’s a 16k. The van is a 350 van but it’s a pretty beefed down 350. The axels and springs are lighter than you’d find on a 350 truck but the brakes and I think transmission are equal. I’ve not used it for any heavy loads but it does good with 7k or so. I didn’t buy the 16k trailer under the impression I could fill it to capacity and hook it behind the van. But garbage isn’t very heavy so there’s no need. I have a 3500, 5500, and 6500 dump truck so there’s no need for heavy towing behind the van but I can’t carry any tools in the truck so I needed to carry trash with the van.

I’ve never let what I actually need get in the way. I don’t have a finance manager so..

I don't have a finance manager I buy what I want to a certain extent but sometimes I will get carried away I dont need a dump trailer but would be handy but also in the way, Just like a grapple bucket I have a 4-1 bucket that works but a grapple would work better but for a grand or two I will make do...

Would be used primarily for lawn clippings, tree branches etc hauling a couple miles to the landmill. Occasional use for dirt, sand, rock etc.
Is the narrow wheel tread a concern.
Lists for $3,000. Would probably add sideboards and a roll-up tarp.

Would like to hear opinions. Thanks in advance.

Buying a trailer like that only means it will be the trailer before you purchase your next dump trailer (in the not too distant future). Purchase 2x what you believe you need now and save yourself $$$. Good luck.

A truck is a far better value for hauling gravel or dirt. I’ve got about 4K in my truck and can haul 10 tons and I gave 8k for the trailer and it can haul about 6 tons. Plus the truck doesn’t need a tow vehicle and can move equipment I have about the same money in the truck and yellow trailer as I do the dump trailer.

I couldn't say it better but will add that as trailers go,demand and resale is less than most trailers. IMO a 5x10 w/two 3500Lb axles and brakes is the lightest dump trailer in hiogh demand. New one's go for $4k and used for $3k+. Single axle dump want's to lift tongue while dumping or the slightest off center loaded. Faced with $3k max budget I'd opt for a homemade truck bed trailer and one of these and have over $2k left to buy other toys. Error | DNS Resolution | Northern Tool + Equipment
