Just about finished with my new UHMW skid shoe project, here's an update.

I welded the new skid shoe assembly together, painted it, and attached the UHMW to the bottom of the shoes.

Today or tomorrow I'll install them on the Dozer Blade and try them "new shoes" out this weekend with our snow storm that's on the way.

Here's a couple of pictures:

Previous post for this new UHMW skid shoe project are #671, #672, #675 #678, & #681.

Pixguy, it looks like the snow storm was keeping you busy !

I installed a 14" or 16" (?) aluminum diamond plate (material I had) riser on top of my snowblower about 4 years ago because the snowfall was higher then the top of the snowblower.

It has worked out great and I have now more snow flowing over the top of the snowblower.

Here's a picture of my riser addition:

You're right KC, that would've helped in this storm.

OK, I'm finally FINISHED with my new UHMW skid shoes for the Dozer Blade !

Today I installed the skid shoes onto the Dozer Blade and adjusted the height with the existing spacers to the height I was plowing with the OEM existing skid shoes.

There was about 3"-4" of snow on the driveway, so I tried out the new shoes and they worked a lot better than the old shoes.

All the time I was plowing, I was using the float position and never had to raise the blade while plowing, and it's nice not to have to make adjustments from the float position.

With the old shoe I would of had to raise the blade many times in order to not dig into the gravel driveway, because this last week in December has been quite a bit warmer than normal.

Not enough to melt any snow but enough to soften up the ice that's normally on the driveway (sort of like late March or early April during the spring thaw).

Here's the final 2 pictures of this project:

Yes your picture shows exactly why I added the riser to the snowblower.

And also when I'm snowblowing the edges of the driveway during the winter, the riser make a nice sharp cut to the edges.

Gonna hafta get me wunna those, KC.... We had a little less snow (23-24") where I am, maybe 30 miles north of Pixguy, but still had to go over areas twice due to snow "rollover." How did you fasten that to the blower (maybe pics of the outside)?

Nice job indeed!

Wow, we only got 9 or so, (North of Allentown PA)

Funny thing is that the "professionals" were telling us that it was a storm that would kill southern New England and souther NH and yet it did the opposite. The pros should just retire and we can watch a pretty young thing read the computer models instead.

irvingj, I think I used 10-24 machine screws with nylock nuts and fender washer (just thru bolting with materials I had on hand) and in the 90 degree corners on the outside is just a light gauge aluminum angle to thru bolt the risers (again I just used the parts and pieces I had on hand).

If anyone wants to know the specifics, I can take some measurements, but I'm sure all of you can improve on these risers (like a 90 degree bend in the riser corners) ?

I do think that the cutout for the snowblower discharge chute is a generous opening if I remember correctly.

Thank you to everyone for the kind words on my new skid shoes fabrication for my MF 2340 Dozer Blade.

And Gene, for a old 70's man that cannot see the welding puddle for crap anymore (I now weld mostly by feel these days), you do know I am selecting the best for the pictures, ha.

Here's a picture I have showing some of the outside of these risers:

You're the blind kung fu master of welding, KC.

Tried a 1/4" thick piece of UHMWPE for a scraper blade on my 2360. I've only made two passes up & down the paved drive so far, but it worked well. We'll see how long it holds up. (Still looking for an alternative to the $$ OEM piece....)

This is the blade I use, had float ends which I removed as the snow would stay on the blade and not shift out to the side.
plow20201220_113618_resized.jpg
Was worried it would be too big, but so far it works well in 4WD. Not so well in 2WD. No chains needed so far, but do slide down a bit on sideways bottom of driveway.

Still jealous of you with the snow blowers, but had this plow already and for about $150 adapted to the tractor SSQA, so only takes a minute to swap out to bucket.
Nice not have to lift anything to attach.

Holy.... How wide is that blade? 7'? The thick and heavy snow where I live would stop my GC dead in its tracks with a blade that size.

I thought so too, When I angle it, no problem. Would not try to move too much straight on !
